These regulations require employers, the self - employed and those in control of premises (known as the responsible person) is liable and should report specified work place incidents. 

Serious injuries that require reporting include:
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Amputations
  • Hospital treatment or hospitalisation of any kind 
  • Crushing of any kind
  • Scalping
  • Loss of sight
  • Burns covering more than 10% of body
  • Any long term injury or exposure to carcinogenic materials;
  • Diagnoses of certain occupational diseases / if work is likely to have caused or made worse
  • Death

This regulation puts the responsibility on the employers, self employed or owner of the premises. Reporting any fatal incidents or serious injuries is very important as the can be reviewed and then precautions can be put in place for the employees to avoid any harm. Diseases that can be spread are also dangerous as they can harm employees health so they must be notified. Employees which aren’t fit to work and could spread disease should not be working. Knowing what can harm you as an employee or the self employed is so important as then you can avoid it. Gas incidents should always be reported under this regulation also.
