2. What are your expectations of this class? Honestly, I'm a little scared to start this class. I feel like I'm respectful of others' views, even if they're very different from mine, but I'm afraid that they will not be the same. I have opinions that I've thought and planned out on my own. I am willing to open my mind to other perspectives, as well. I just hope people will do the same for me. I'm not looking to change anyone's mind or get into any debates if they are not willing to listen. I have strong opinions, yet I don't like to step on others' toes. Overall, I hope to become more educated and continue to open my mind to new ideas!
3. How would you describe your level of interest in current events/politics? I think I'm moderately interested in politics. I do not really like them that much, but I still think they're super important, especially because these current events will affect my college, family, job, and whole future. I try to stay updated on world events through Twitter and the news.

I don't know, I am confused.

After CNN: I still feel like I'm not sure. There are American companies that are going to create more jobs and expand, so that's good I guess!

Okay well first of all I don't really like listening to Podcasts because they don't hold my attention, but I wasn't offended by the language :) I think it's interesting how some said that the VMI wasn't in the wrong if they modify the women's school so that it is at par with the men's. I don't really know how to feel about that - if I still think it's unfair that they separate the schools? I just think that they might as well put the two colleges together if they're going to be the same. The Podcast showed the differences in the two women and was interesting that they disagreed but still held their strong opinions.

1. What do you think about reading vs. speaking? I would much rather read so that I can look up any words I do not know and comprehend at my own pace. The reading was great, but I am just not an audio learner.

2. What is your favorite part of the Declaration of Independence? My favorite part is where they're giving all of the reasons why the king has unfairly treated them. It's just one big list of them calling him out! And it's awesome.

I especially loved the second story about the black man who helped the white man see his faults. During his childhood, the white man thought he could say anything he wanted because of his first amendment rights. He thought that just because his words would be protected and others had no right to be hurt. Later on, he saw that although he has these rights, he has to be compassionate and sensitive to others' emotions.
