This character is like me because I lack confidence in a lot of different ways. I tend to shy away from situations that I think I'll fail in, or that I won't be accepted. Like Sahar, she knew she was a good swimmer, but she also knew that she shouldn't swim past a certain point in the ocean due to strong currents and high waves. The moment she grew confidence is when she saw a baby tiger way out in the ocean and was about to drown. She hesitated for one second and then knew that she had to save the tiger, even if she was afraid. 
I tend to think past my fears when someone else is in need. Mary got told that her uncle was an angry person who kept most of the doors in his house locked. Based on the title of the book and clues from what I have read, I think that Mary will open one of the locked doors and find a secret garden in it.
