The idea for the blues genre came from me playing a basic chord progression between D and C power chords with the addition of blue notes on the 5th and 7th of each chord (which is commonly used within blues music), I showed George the chord progression and he played a riff over the chord progression that was entirely improvised throughout the whole performance. Heather added the bass line into the mix as well as Joe on the drums following the chord progression. We then had a discussion on what to do with what we had and whether we should add lyrics to the "song" or not. but we decided to keep it as an instrumental and have me perform an improved guitar solo over the mid section of the instrumental within the key of C and D minor pentatonic scales which fit the stimulus criteria nicely. The chords I were playing incorporated blues notes on mostly 5th and 7th and pentatonic based licks which fit with the blues genre we went with for the stimulus, the solo was improvised using a pentatonic scale in the key of D and C. - I thought that it was very similar throughout the performance with no changes in the chord progression at all and perhaps got a little repetitive, I think the addition of lyrics could have helped solve this problem as well as a key change at some point in the structure of the performance
- I think we should have spent more time working on the song so that we got a definite idea of what were doing as most of it was just improvisation throughout the whole performance
