During the competition, Biles wore a teal-colored leotard to raising awareness for sexual assault as she went on to become the second woman to win five or more national all-around titles at the U.S.A. Gymnastics National Championships. She purposefully chose the color teal, which is used to raise awareness about sexual abuse, at a time when USA Gymnastics is struggling to respond to the years of abuse hundreds of young athletes experienced at the hands of disgraced former national team doctor Larry Nasser.  

Biles and hundreds of other survivors have come forward with stories about Nassar’s sexual abuse in recent months, exposing one of the largest sexual abuse scandals in sports history. Many of these survivors, including fellow Olympians Aly Raisman, Jordyn Wieber, Gabby Douglas and Mckayla Maroney , detailed horrific stories of Nassar’s sexual abuse while he was supposed to be treating them for injuries as the national team doctor with USA Gymnastics and in other roles at Michigan State University. In January, Nasser was sentenced to up to 175 years in prison. 

Survivors have criticized USA Gymnastics and Michigan State for how it handled the monumental scandal, and have accused the organizations for not acting faster in response to abuse allegations. Biles said USA Gymnastics should carry the “guilt” for the years of abuse when she came forward with her story in January.

“For too long I’ve asked myself, ‘Was I too naive? Was it my fault?’ I now know the answer to those questions,” Biles said in a January statement about the sexual abuse she endured. “No. No, it was not my fault. No, I will not and should not carry the guilt that belongs to Larry Nasser, USAG , and others.”

Despite the ongoing controversy, Biles made a tremendous return to the top after she took a post-Olympics break and did not compete in 2017. Her 2018 title adds to her consecutive victories in 2013 through 2016. Biles displayed her dominance with wins in every event.

By Larry Nasser committing such a big crime of child sex abuse to over 200 girls it was made the decision to go to the " nuclear opinion " (supreme court of the us) which he got up to a total 125 more years in prison onto of his previous sentence of 60 years. People describe the man as " evil " and " a criminal of the worst kind ". 

In the short-term, they are working to ensure that USA gymnastics have the support necessary to excel on and off the field of play. as for the long-term they are trying to recognized the gymnastics NGB (national governing body), weather the existing organisation or a new one, to lead gymnastics in the United States and build on the supportive community of athletes and clubs that can carry the sport forwards for decades to come. 
 
so the positives of this happening is that it makes awareness of the scandal and it allows us to make sure that it doesn't happen anymore in gymnastics or in any sports.  Russia’s ban from the Olympic Games has been lifted as the organizers of the world’s biggest sporting event try to draw a line under a scandal that revealed years of state-sponsored doping.  The decision meant that no athletes were permitted to compete under the Russian flag during the event. But the ban was quickly taken down , with 168 Russians deemed to be “clean” allowed to compete as neutrals under the banner of Olympic Athlete from Russia.

During the Pyeongchang Games, two Russian athletes failed drugs tests. The World Anti-Doping Agency maintains its strong criticisms of the country’s sports authorities, arguing they have not taken measures required to comply with international controls following “Russia’s proven systemic manipulation of the doping control process”. Despite this, the ban has been lifted, because no further failed drugs tests were detected during the Pyeongchang games.

Now the International Association of Athletics Federations are " allowed dozens of leading Russians to complete as neutrals if they can show an extensive history of passing drug tests. These include athletes such as Maria Lastiskene, who next year will look to defend the high jump world title she won in 2017 "
