         <title>M. Smith and CTE Department</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>CTE worked on Fall 2018 testing data and low scoring standards in their NCCTE Admin program.  Standards Report and Performance by Standard by Student is very helpful in seeing which areas we can look at for ways to improve how the material is presented to students etc. Teachers will PLC with other CTE teachers in their program area and discuss this data and ways to improve low scoring standards.<br><br>CTE teachers also worked on Modified Blueprints and will met with Ms. Stevens to discuss the students ability and course blueprint as needed.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>PE discussed registration and the process of having a prerequisites for Weight Training and Advanced PE classes. We brainstormed ideas of how to manage and motivate non-motivated students who want to come to the gym to do nothing. This raises a lot of issues (one  being safety) especially when students are put in PE classes that failed the semester before or have previously refused to do anything in our classes. <br><br>We discussed major issues that are consistently increasing within the school and PE. Some of these include vaping, possible drug deals and refusal to participate. We are still brainstorming and working on the best ways to manage all of these items that we discussed. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>We discussed inspiration images and content for the Spring Musical set design and collaboration from each discipline. <br><br>We discussed the rigor in our own classrooms and balance of scheduling with general academic and AP courses. Advanced students seemed conflicted in scheduling for their own interdisciplinary coursework. <br><br>We discussed steps we can take for excessive absences as well as key kids being pulled out of class. <br>   </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>English PLC met to review and refine our StudySync skills. Canda is demonstrating how to use Clever to log in to McGraw Hill. We are walking through how to upload assignments to our classes and how to best grade the work. We are looking at scaffolds provided and a worksheet that Canda created to go along with the comprehension questions. We are also looking at CommonLit and discussing how we will use these resources. We looked at Noodle Tools as well. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Held virtual PLC meeting with all high school drafting teachers in Buncombe County Schools.<br><br>Lance Robinson, Matt Carpenter, Craig Orange, Weston McKinny and I participated in the discussion.<br><br>We decided that we would meet face to face at Reynolds High for our next PLC early release date on March 8th.  We set an agenda for March 8th to include reviewing Fall test data, sharing strategies to improve proficiency in low scoring standards, and best practices for file management on the VMware virtual desktop.  We invited Wallace Booth to provide some professional development in the area of VMware file management.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Mr. Hewitt and Mr. Sykes met to discuss the Home Builders Association Playhouse Showdown project.<br><br>Primarily the need for the project parameters and deadlines to align with the Carpentry and Drafting upper level course standards and pacing guides, was discussed.<br><br>It was agreed that we will communicate this to the Asheville Home Builders Association and all involved in the project.  It was also agreed that we should not stray from our curriculum to the detriment of our students, in order to satisfy the goals of AHBA.</div>]]></description>
