"Did you learn to dance like that at school?"
"What dance?"
"Out there, on the ice. The dance you did - that was neat. Did you learn it at a school?" Carl looked at him for a long time, studying his face closely. Then he smiled. "You're young. You're just a boy. It's all movement - not a dance. Everything in life is a movement, a swirl, a spin. And the movements have color. Like some swirls are red and some are green and some are blue like the ice and they all mix together and everything in life is a movement of color to music." p. 67-68.

This quote is significant because it is when Willy asked Carl why he "danced" on the ice rink. Willy was trying to figure out the meaning of it. Carl explained that his movements were about things that happened in his life. His movements were mysterious to everybody and people made up rumors about Carl. When Carl did these things he was acting out things that happened in his life.

I read the review by Bukcrz in the Goodreads hyperlink. I agree with the book reviewer that the book was more interesting than they thought it would be. The reviewer thought that the book had a lot of detail from the narrator about how Carl's mysterious body movements were connected to his past. They thought this helped them to make connections about why Carl was the way he was and did the things he did. The reviewer thought the ending was good because when Helen picked up the rose it made the reader feel good because Carl was so lonely. It was good to see at the end of the story that someone showed him that he mattered.
