Seeded by a $5,000 social innovation grant from Cal, they researched and launched a for-profit social venture called BTTR Ventures; BTTR stands for "Back To The Roots." The goal is to be a sustainable company focused on social responsibility. They're accomplishing this by diverting one of America's largest waste streams out of Bay Area landfills.
"Mushrooms biologically grow really well in hardwoods, and so, coffee acts like a hardwood biologically, and we can grow them pretty well in that," said BTTR Ventures co-founder Nikhill Arora.

The mushrooms aren't caffeinated produce, they just absorb all the coffee grounds' nutrients.
So it dawned on them they could help the environment, at least locally, by collecting a ton of coffee waste a week from local shops like Peets Coffee and Whole Foods' Alegro Cafe. And then at a local warehouse in Emeryville, a small crew of employees packs sterile bags full of grounds, growing hundreds of pounds of gourmet oyster mushrooms a week. After harvesting, they're sold at local farmers markets and grocery stores.

After seeing Incovenient Truth at least I am now more aware of our world´s problems and that film is from 2010 so as a conclusion we can say that now is even worse. We need to start changing our actions otherwise the results will be the same and worst. To help the world we need to :
1. using so much water for unecessary reasons.
2. Hang Dry your Clothes:

That would help you save money and electricity

3. Use both sides of the paper

This one is obvious, using the both sides oft he paper don´t hurt anyone and this way will use a lot less of paper

4. Don´t use plastic bottles, have your own Thermo

Plastic takes at least 400 years to decompose, and if you have your own Thermo it doesn´t change anything.

5. Take a shorter shower

We can try to reduce own bath time and this way we are going to save A LOT of water

6. Turn off the lights

This way is obvious that we would save a lot of energy

7. Ban plastic bags, use reusable bags

Plastic lasts too long (400 years) and there is a los of plastic bags in the ocena killing a lot of sea animals

8. Use rechargable batteries

Use this type of batterie won´t stop you from doing whatever you want and it helps the environment so why not?

9. Skip rising dishes before dishwashing:

This won´t make your dishes any less clean so let´s do this to help save water

10. Consider buying second-hand items

Second-hand items aren´t any less ugly or useful!
11. Change sources of energy and use non-damaging ones as wind energy, or solar energy .

10 Tips to save the planet:

Even when not turned on, an electronic that is plugged into a power source still uses energy. This is called the “vampire effect.”

Use reusable containers and reusable water bottles. This eliminates plastic.

Buy food from farmers' markets because these small farms use their land more efficiently and they spend less energy than a regular super market

Flush less water. Most toilets wash 3.5 gallons of water away with each flush and by puting a balloon placed in the toilet tank, saves up to .8 gallons per flush.

Run the dishwasher only when it’s full. This saves up water and also time.

Make that Air Conditioner more efficient by lowering the shades in the apartment when the sun streams through the windows, it heats up the apartment and makes the air conditioner work harder.

Wrap gifts in fabric and tie with ribbon; both are reusable and prettier than paper and tape to reduce the use of paper.

Instead of turning your heat on,, put on a jacket, this way you will bw saving energy.

Buy compact fluorescent light bulbs. They last eight times as long and use a fraction of the energy.

Turn off TV’s, computers and stereos instead of switching them to standby.
