In my school, students are assessed against a marking criteria in JS. Students are told what they have done well, what they can improve their work. Then, they are asked to set an action plan and redraft their work in green pen. They get a grade according to the GCSE grading system and they get a mark for effort too. The actual writing piece is marked for literacy and misspelt words need to be corrected by the pupil.

This is a piece of literacy work from y6. This piece of work has been assessed according to the school's feedback policy under subheading of literacy. Appropriate directed colours, such as pink and green and purple ink - they have been used by both the student and teacher according to the feedback policy which is clear to both the student and teacher. There is a mixture different uses of assessment - including self assessment by the pupil - ties in with Education Endownment Foundation - feedback clearly redirects / refocuses the learners actions and gives the teacher a clear indication of how the teacher needs to move the learner forward.

We highlight pink for correct and green for incorrect/edit/improve across all subjects. With green pen we write comments with follow on questions and spelling corrections which the children have to rewrite. We add a positive, encouraging comment at the end. The pink highlight is matching the learning objective/outcome. The children do edits in red and spelling corrections in blue. We also pink highlight the challenge level they have reached. In this case pf outstanding work, a photo was taken, as you can see from the peg, and sent to the parents to see.

Policy is to mark in Purple/Pink (they call it "perfect pink"). The level they reached is circled with a nice comment. In green, a task is given to students to complete to help them improve. Amazing work can be added to displays. Form of assessment as you can see what level students reached by end of lesson to influence content for next lesson. Green pen helps to assess whether some students were capable of achieving higher and just chose not to.

Policy is to mark all work in green. Children are marked from A1-5. A for handing in on Monday etc.. and 1-5 depending on standard of work. Children are given a chance to improve their work and get a higher grade. If children's work is especially inspiring they get a stamp and a prize. If children need to improve they receive a sticker which tells them so. If children have all correct then teacher will ask a question to push the child further. Once children have completed corrections / further work they must sign that they have completed, then teacher signs

The rationale was to get them to review some work from the year, and show that they understood it and could repeat it back.
