There are more shelters called Winnipeg Harvest, which is the same shelter as Siloam Mission. Canadian Red Cross, is an organization where you could help volunteer the ones who came from up places where they came from where the forest fires occurred. You can help them with basic things like supporting, serving them food/water giving them warm blankets, clothes etc. There is the Winnipeg Humane Society, is dedicated to helping suffering animals, there you can adopt cats and dogs. In their volunteer work, you can feed the animals give them fresh water, clean cages and many more things to do. Being a good citizen means you should respect the environment around you, and as well as the people. That includes help picking up trash on Earth day or on any day which leads too recycling everywhere, or help your elderly’s if they ever need the help. Also, being a good citizen means, you should not say racist remarks or jokes to the cultural people in Winnipeg, Winnipeg’s racisms problem is at its worst.

2. What are some ways some ways we can be good digital citizens when we are online or using social media?

When we are on social media, posting pictures, statues, snaps, and many more. We don’t really think of how it will affect or make others think of that picture, all we pay attention to is if it makes us look good, which brings that attention to them. The ways we can be good digital citizens on social media is if we post and share appropriate stuff, if teenagers post drug/alcohol/violence related pictures or videos on social media, there is a possibility that the police can see you what you posted, you would this can give you a bad reputation. And once you post something online, it will always stay online, this means that in the future, if you would ever apply for a job and give in your resume, the boss can search you up on google, and see if you ever had any bad experiences on social media, which would make you look bad for the job. Young teens tent to send inappropriate content pictures too a boy they like, and often that picture gets spread around social media for the world to see depending on how many views/shares it gets, its still there for the people who see. And for the people who saw they could screen shoted it. This would make the victim feel and look bad. This will be the cause of bullying and online bullying. The moral of this paragraph on digital citizen is be careful and be ware of you post on social media, it can come back too you.
~

1. What are some ways we can be good citizens in our communities in Winnipeg?

There are many ways we can be good citizens in our communities. We could volunteer, we could pick up garbage, we could go to downtown and feed the homeless, give them clean clothes, we could even donate things, like food, clothing even blood. There are many places you can volunteer in Winnipeg like St.Amant, Winnipeg harvest etc. St.Amant is a place where you can provide support for people with development disabilities, this is a good place to volunteer, because not only are you being a good citizen, but you help the people there feel loved, also they have activities there that is not only fun for the people there but also for you. Winnipeg harvest is also a good place to volunteer, you can donate food, clothes and money. And the things you donate go towards helping the less fortunate, the homeless and so much more. You can donate blood to hospitals like the children hospital, the blood you donate today can save a young child’s life tomorrow. Being a good citizen in our communities really isn’t hard. The little things we do every day like helping in classrooms at schools can be our way of being a good citizen.

2. What are some ways we can be good digital citizen when we are online or using social media?

They are many ways to be good digital citizen. When we post pictures or videos online, it is so tempting to post them without asking other people in the picture if they are ok with us posting the picture/video. We need to learn to ask for permission because what we post online will forever be there and it can be traced back to us. If we post a picture of us smoking, and drinking online, and in the future, we go for an interview, if our employer finds these pictures/videos we would not hire us. Posting pictures like that could ruining our chance of ever getting a good job that we love. We should always think twice before posting things online. If we will be ashamed to show the things we post to our grandparents or our family, then we probably shouldn’t post it.

There’s a lot of places that people have trouble with other people making comments on what they post on a website or app. For example, Instagram people post pictures of them self and there’s always at least one person say, “that’s a bad photo”. In Winnipeg there are a lot of communities that are on the downfall from lack of food, care, protection, water and many more. There are plenty of ways we can help our communities. You can go to Christmas cheer board and make food boxes filled with stuff like Kraft Dinner, fruit, vegetables basically any good foods a family needs. Different places like the Siloam Mission, Lighthouse Mission are places you can go and donate money, blankets, food, water you can even take some time out of your day to cook food for the people in need you can come spend some time with people and play games with them or maybe just have a conversation. People who don’t help in their own community don’t realize how many people are struggling just because they don’t have food or water or even family. So always take the time and thought out of your day to help out those people who need it.

1. What are some ways we can be good citizens in our communities in Winnipeg?

There are a lot of ways we can be good citizens to our communities here in Winnipeg.

We can do plenty of volunteering in our city’s shelters and centres such as Siloam Mission, and which in Siloam Missions volunteer work you can wash dishes, help sort/fold the donated clothes, help cook food for the people who are staying, and many more tasks. There are more shelters called Winnipeg Harvest, which is the same shelter as Siloam Mission. Canadian Red Cross, is an organization where you could help volunteer the ones who came from up places where they came from where the forest fires occurred. Also, being a good citizen means, you should not say racist remarks or jokes to the cultural people in Winnipeg, Winnipeg’s racisms problem is at its worst.

What are some ways you can be a good citizen in our communities in Winnipeg? In Winnipeg communities there are many ways to be good citizens, you can volunteer to help people in need, volunteer to help coach sports team, and the biggest way I believe to be a good citizen is to be an active member that is willing to help. If you want to be a good citizen and you want to volunteer there are many places to help such as Siloam Mission to help homeless people get food, clothes, and a place to stay. If you aren’t into volunteering, you can always make donations to help Siloam mission help people. Another way to be a good citizen is to volunteer to coach/assist with sports teams or activity’s for kids to have mentors to teach them how to do things that some kids will never do. All these things you can do to be active and help your community to become a better and safer place for you and every one that lives in it. That is how you can be a good citizen in the community of Winnipeg. 2.	Why is digital citizenship important today? Digital citizenship is important today for many reasons. It is important today because technology is the face of this generation, all of us use it from kids to our grandparents. It is where we show your life and look at how other people spend their life. It can be very inspiring but there can be many down sides of technology. Online people don’t act like them selves they say stuff that they would never say to people faces, which could cause problems in the future like when you need a job they employer may look at all of your social media and they could learn what you did in the past which could be good or it could be bad, such as if you have a criminal record they employer may find out that about you by searching you up on the web. This is not they only thing that makes digital citizenship important, but in the future, this will get bigger and bigger until we only relay on digital citizenship. I believe that will become bad because people act differently online than in person. But today digital citizenship is important in this generation of people.

Frank1) what are some ways we can be good citizens in our communities in winnipeg?	There are a lot of ways we can be good citizens in winnipeg communities. We can volunteer in many ways, whether it be helping the homeless, helping with sports teams, helping your neighbors or just helping anyone. for helping the homeless there are shelters that offer food and warm beds. you can go volunteer at the shelters and help make food, or if you dont have time to volunteer you can donate clothes and canned food. By helping sports teams you can be the ref or scorekeep. you can help your neighbors if they need help with something they cant do alone. or helping anyone would be fine, by helping anyone it makes them happy and makes you feel better, thats how you become a good citizen in winnipeg.2) Why is digital citizenship important today?	Digital citizenship is important because its on social media and everybody's on it. People have more guts to say stuff thats mean and they would never say in person because they're talking to a screen. Also once you post something online its gone, people can screenshot it and you cant have it back, they can use the pictures to get you back for something. they have to remember just because you're talking to someone behind a screen you cant be as mean as you want, its still a person and you're probably hurting them.

1) What are some ways we can be good citizens in our communities in Winnipeg?

Some ways we can be good citizens our communities in Winnipeg is by donating clothes and food to people who need these things these days. You can donate coats and mitts to people who doesn’t have have warm clothes for winter. Some people are starving and searching for food while you are wasting food, give them out instead of wasting them. Another way you can be good citizens is by helping people out for example, you can volunteer in a club where you can help old people or help clean up with something or help people pick up things that they dropped, you can be a good citizen in our communities just by doing these little things. Donating blood is one way to be a good citizen but that’s a big one everyone has a choice for that but for donating clothes and food isn’t that big of a deal everyone can do that. Everyone has their rights to choose if they want to donate blood or not but it’s one way to be a good citizen. You can save a persons life just by donating blood to the community.

2) What are some ways we can be good digital citizens when we are online or using social media ?

Some ways we can be good digital citizens when we are online or using social media is by treating others the way you want to be treated. For example you comment should always be positive and polite. Another way you can be a good digital citizen is by reporting something that can harm or make someone sad. You should always be cheering up people not bringing them down even if they are your enemy what if people start to think about killing themselves it’s better not to say anything. Also don’t share anything that’s not yours without permission. If you share something that’s not yours it will be taken off due to copyright so there is no point of sharing something that’s not yours it’s just a waste of time. It’s better not to talk about personal things via text because anyone can take screenshots and post them online and they will be stay online forever unless that persons takes it off immediately so it’s better to not talk about personal things via text. So to be a good citizen your comment should always be positive, report something that can harm someone and NEVER take screenshots of anyone’s personal things.

1. What are some ways we can be good citizens in our communities in Winnipeg?

There are various ways that we can be good citizens, and these are just some of the ways. One thing that you can do, which is my personal favourite way, is volunteering. Volunteering is a great way to give back to the community, by working and helping for free. When you volunteer, you are providing the place or company that you are helping extra help and more help, means that they can finish things quicker and focus more on large, more important tasks. Some places that you can volunteer for are places like Siloam mission, or Winnipeg harvest, where you serve and prepare food for those less fortunate. For some of those people, that is the only meal they will get in the day. By volunteering, you are guaranteeing that the food will get served faster and that more people can be fed daily. Another place you can volunteer is St. Amant. When you volunteer at St. Amant, you will be caring for and spending time with people with disabilities. The more people that volunteer, the more people can be visited and given attention and also, those people get to meet new people that they wouldn't normally see. Another great way to be a better citizen is being green. By taking care of the environment, you are helping keep our streets clean and our air healthy. One major way you can contribute to help our environment is by recycling. When you recycle, you are making sure that the items you recycle can be used for other things and can be re-made into other items, which ensures that there will be less garbage on the ground, because more things are being reused. You can also conserve energy by turning of lights, not leaving things on, and not leaving unused accessories plugged in. The more energy you save, the more you will have to use in the future. These are just some ways that you can be a better citizen in Winnipeg.

2.Why is digital citizenship important today?

Digital citizenship is a topic that occurs more today than a couple of years ago, but why is it so important now? As technology and social media becomes more popular, we have to worry more about what we put online, since these days most people have social media, and anyone can find you from friends, to future employers and even present employers. Sometimes stuff that people post online get them fired and if they had digital citizenship they would have considered not posting that comment or picture, because it was wrong or not appropriate. So many people online act different than they do in real life, because online you can almost choose what people think of you, but the downside of that is, people say things to others that they wouldn't say to them face-to-face, because they have more confidence online. There are many other reasons why digital citizenship is important and in the future, it will be more important as we make technological advances.

1. What are some ways we can be good citizens in our communities in Winnipeg?

There are many ways how we can be good citizens in our communities in Winnipeg. For example, you can volunteer at the animal shelter or seniors house. I experienced volunteering at a place called “St. Amant” which is the place where we can help people with disabilities by helping them ride their bike or a wheel chair around the building, supporting when they need to swim or do activity such as art and reading books to them. “Winnipeg Humane Society” is the organization that help abandoned pets or other poor animals and we can help the animals by feeding, playing, washing and walking them. “Canadian Red Cross” is the organization with the mission to help people from where forest fire occurred or from a place that got flooded and we can help them by providing clothes, food, water etc. Lastly, “Winnipeg Harvest” is also an organization that shares/ provides food to hungry families and we can help people by serving food and water to hungry families, help people cook, clean things up such as washing dishes etc. I believe that being a good citizen in our communities is being helpful and respectful to the community by not being racist and cleaning up garbage. There are plenty of ways how we can be good citizens in our communities in Winnipeg by volunteering, respecting and helping others and the community itself.

2. Why is digital citizenship important today?

Digital citizenship was not very important in the past because there were not many people using phone and social media were not popular. Because there are more people using/ owning phone today and as the social media becomes more popular, people don’t think about what they are posting online and don’t know the danger of posting everything online. Everyone will be able to see everything that you post online because there might be people who screenshot the pictures or texts and might even repost them on the internet and even though they deleted the picture, it will stay on the internet forever. In the future, the boss for that person can search up and find those pictures and if the pictures or the texts are inappropriate or something bad, it will get the person fired. In a bad situation, some criminals might get information about that person and get in a grave danger. Also, when a person posts pictures online, they can choose what they post based on what they want other people to think of them, but in real life, they will be very different than what other people think. As our technology skills grows, people should think more before they post pictures or comments to be safe and live a happy life.

We also have to T.H.N.I.K. before we post any pictures or any words online that will come back to hurt us in the future when we are looking for a job or political appointment, all of the pictures we have taken or the comments we say on things, we might think it is just a playful joke and might not think much of it but when you are looking for a job wherever you apply to the people there will do a background check on you and they will find all of the post you have posted and the comments you have made. But being good digital citizens is very important because nowadays everyone does everything online using phones, tablets, computers etc. we have to be careful and use the internet wisely because if you don’t, your whole career could be ruined because we are not able to think before we post or say something online.

We should be careful how we say things because it could hurt someone else. We should clean up our litter and garbage, so we help the environment stay clean, or we take the bus or walk instead of driving everywhere. We can volunteer at some of the many food banks/ soup kitchens, shelters, hospitals/ with elderly, with school (running events, fundraisers, tutoring younger students, etc.). By volunteering we gain skills that are useful in everyday life and it’s also a chance to see how others live and hear their stories.

3. Why is digital citizenship important today?

Digital citizenship is important today because that is how most of us communicate, so some of us send whatever without a thought, but the person on the receiving end could screenshot it or save it and they could do anything with it, so we all have to be careful of what we are posting/sending online. Everything online stays up there forever, and almost anyone can see what you’ve posted, if you’ve posted things that aren’t things you would be willing to say/ show to anyone you probably shouldn’t have posted that in the first place. Everywhere you go anyone can look you up and see what you’ve posted, this can be good and bad depending on how you are on social media. If you are posting or saying bad things you could get in trouble and lots of people would be able to see it but if you post things that won’t be bad or harmful then you could be seen as a better/more reliable person compared to the person with bad things in for example a job interview.

Date: February 5th, 2018

Question: What are some ways we can be good citizens when we are online or using social media.

When we are online no matter if its Instagram, snap chat, Pinterest or twitter it is not okay to be racist, rude and bully people. When we send a snap or pin or direct message to someone, we must be kind, respectful, and Think before we hit send. To be a good citizen when online or on social media, means to not be dirty, unkind or be doing things like watching pornography, being mean and rude about other people’s beliefs and religions, and not being racially abusive. Bullying is done online all the time. It doesn’t matter if its verbal or physical its a horrible thing to do.

Some people online will make fun of the things that make you, you. They’ll slander and ridicule you, and its sometimes hard to stop the problem. Social media opens the door people that are either being bullied or now/see it happening to someone else. An example of a way to properly behave/be a good citizen online are the following… don’t send something to people that you wouldn’t feel comfortable sending to your grandma, mother or father. be kind and respectful, and don’t post something that will come back to haunt you. Before you post think. When I go on Instagram or Pinterest (those are the only social media things I have.) I take time before I post, or say something I think it through on what effect it may have on others. I am always kind and respectable and share everything with my parents before I post.

So basically, to sum it all up you have to be online smart. You have to think, and really make sure that you don’t give all your personal info to people you don’t really know.

Question: why is digital citizenship important today.

Because its such a big thing all over the world right now. Everyone and their aunt Lilian texts, tweets and posts on some form of social media. And we all must Remember how to use it properly, and respectfully. Its also important to help students learn, communicate and collaborate safely and responsibly. People must know or examine the impact of their online activity. As time goes on and technology becomes more, and more popular and commonly used everywhere, we must be careful of what we do online or on social media. Sometimes people may post something that isn’t exactly very moral, or maybe has them partying, drinking, and swearing (or worse). And even if you press the delete button it can never be erased. It will always be recorded somewhere online, and when you go for a job interview, that bad thing you did online will show up under your name, which will ruin your reputation, and you ay not be able to get the job you wanted. (whenever you go to an interview for a new job your bad social media reputation will follow you.) As the years go by, digital citizenship will become even more important, In the future as more technological advances are made. Technology is fun and can help children’s learning at school, however we need to be very careful using it.

1. You can be a good citizen of Winnipeg when you volunteer and give back time to your local community or neighbourhood . This can look like helping young kids learn to play sports and going to help less privileged children. Since Christmas break, my sister and I have been volunteering to help young boys and girls learn how to play hockey. It is called The First Shift program because these kids have never played hockey before and we are the role models from the community. This is a great way to be a good citizen because you are helping young kids learn a sport that they otherwise might not get the opportunity. If you aren’t into sports you can volunteer at St. Amant which is a home for children with disabilities. Last year a group of kids from my school would visit the Centre once a week to take the residents for walks and read books to them. This is a great citizenship builder because it develops empathy. If you don't have time to be involved in these programs you can simply just be friendly and excepting to other people and kind to little kids at your school or in your community.

2. We can be good digital citizens when using social media and trying to be the same person on text as you are in person. Before you post a picture make sure that you have received permission from the people in the picture. Also, when you post a picture you should be ready to take it down if someone asks you to do so. Another way you can be a good digital citizen is when you are commenting on Instagram or YouTube etc., you are always contributing in a positive way. A good digital citizen means being respectful, responsible and ethical while online.
https://prezi.com/8hf8atoc6opx/what-does-being-a-good-digital-citizen-mean/

😊Krish😊

1. What are some ways we can be good citizens in our communities in Winnipeg?

There are many ways on how we can achieve becoming a good citizen and one way is volunteering in shelters and centers. Firstly, you can volunteer at the “Winnipeg Humane Society” in which you can feed, play, walk and accompany homeless, hopeless and maybe injured animals. Secondly, you can contribute to the “Siloam Mission” by donating used clothing and even money to the people in need or you can help with washing dishes left by people who came to eat, help in taking care of people’s health and many more tasks. One of the easiest ways you can help people is by donating food at the “Winnipeg Harvest” this cooperation will then provide nutritious food to Manitobans, in addition you can also lend a hand in cooking and serving the food. “St. Amant” is another fabulous place where you can volunteer to help encourage people with mental disabilities do everyday activities, like riding a bike, reading a book, helping them swim and etc. “The salvation army” is committed to help the people in need by giving them shelter, food and health care which you can also contribute by volunteering in providing blankets or food or donating money. Lastly, you can also become a good citizen by just volunteering in old age homes or even at a school. I personally have volunteered at a place called “St. Amant” where I read books for disabled people and road them around inside the building on a wheel chair or on a bicycle. I have also experienced volunteering at my religious school where I helped smaller kids understand how to read, write and speak in my language. I believe that you can be a good citizen by volunteering, but you can also do that by respecting nature and people around you the way you want to be treated. This could include reducing waste, water contamination, soil contamination and air contamination and keeping the Earth clean. You can complete this by not throwing products on the floor and recycling them, and conserve energy by turning off lights when you don’t need them and saving energy instead of wasting it, in addition you can also do this with water. Try volunteering for others happiness and yours and become a good citizen of Winnipeg.

2. Why is digital citizenship important today?

Digital citizenship was not as concerning/important in the old days because there was less amount of people influenced by technology. As social media and technology becomes more popular the rate of possible negative outcomes increases. Firstly, social media increasing makes people stop worrying about what they are posting and clearly, they do not know the outcomes of posting wrong things. When he/she post something, then that post will be revealed to the world and predators could pick that up and find everything about you from your friends and family. When you post a photo, that photo can be received by the whole world and if someone takes a snapshot of the text then it is impossible to take the photo down. When an employee or officer posts something wrong or inappropriate online then their bosses are able to see what they have posted and because of that they can lose their job and the reputation will decrease. One major negative thing about social media is that some people could be real, and some people could be fake. For instance, a 60-year-old man making an account with a 14-year-old boys photo, which results in pulling people to come closer and make them do horrible things. Social media can change a person’s ego in social media rather than in real life because you cannot do anything if someone say something bad to you on social media rather than face to face. Social media is a way of people showing themselves different to someone on social media then real life. I believe in the world of developing technology, we should be more careful on how we act online and what we say online.

Eman

Why is a digital citizenship important today?

A digital citizen is important today cause technology is becoming more an more common. Over the past years social media and the web have become very popular and everything u post or do on it will be left for the world to see. If social media and the web is used correctly it can be a fun way to interact with others but if used badly it can leave a long affect on your life. Most people don’t think before they click send or post like Mellisa Adamson who posted a racial slur on snapchat causing her to get fired as a police officer or Amanda tod who was texting someone she thought was 14 but really a phony causing her to get blackmailed then to later commitsuicide. Technology is really helping us but also causing people to act before they think then to ruin there lives. These problems that technology has brought is really why being a gooddigital citizen is important today.

What are some ways we can be good citizens in our communities of Winnipeg ?

Three of the many ways you can be a good citizen in the communities of Winnipeg are volunteering and donating foods. Volunteering makes youa good citizen because it shows youcare and thatyou are doing this out of your free time to volunteer at a soupkitchen or school and not doing it because you want money but because you really care about the community. Donating foods to places like a food bank makes you a good citizen because a character of a good citizen is to help others when in need. Participating in community eventsmakes you a good citizen because it shows that you are taking time of yourschedule to participate and that you care what the community is doing. Doing volunteering ,donating or participating in the community events shows how you don’t care about getting a reward or money you just want to help the community.

Savanaugh

1. What are some ways we can be good digital citizens when we are online or using social media?

The internet is an amazing place, used for learning new things, and connecting with millions of people. But, the internet can also be dangerous; with fake information, and people who aren’t who they say they are. So, how can we be good digital citizens when online? Every citizen has rights, responsibilities, and privileges; that doesn’t change when online. We have the right to view anything, but that can sometimes come with risks. We can view any video, any news article, anything that’s ever been put on the internet. We have the responsibility to manage what we choose to view. Since we can see pretty much everything online, it’s our own responsibility to choose what we view and the importance of it. We also have the privilege of the internet itself. In so many countries, the inhabitants don’t have the luxury of the internet, and its unfortunate. So, the question stills stands, how can we be good digital citizens? We could start by using our rights, and responsibilities as good digital citizens and work toward an internet that is safer for us, and future generations. We could also put our privileges to good use and make sure the internet can be used by everyone because, the internet is an amazing place. A place used for learning new things, and meeting new people; though, it can be dangerous, so we should be good digital citizens and use our rights and responsibilities to make the internet the best it can be.

2. Why is digital citizenship important today?

Imagine the internet like a country, like Canada; many different inhabitants coming together to work with each other in peace and harmony. What is something that all Canadians have in common? They all are citizens, now looking back on the internet aspect, everyone online is a digital citizen of this imaginary digital country, but why is that important? Well, being a digital citizen gives you the rights to almost everything on the internet; like YouTube videos, and social medias. It gives you the responsibility to worry about what you’re viewing, and it gives you the privilege a lot of people want; internet itself. Digital citizenship is crucial for today’s generation because it’s what’s going to influence the future generations. If we didn’t run on digital citizenship and be the good digital citizens that we are, our online world would be total chaos! So when we imagine the internet as a country, full of many different inhabitants, we have to remember how important digital citizenship is, and how it will affect us.

Jeremy

What are some ways we can be good citizens in our communities in Winnipeg?

Being a good citizen in our community consists of plenty things, like volunteering in the community, being generous to people and donating money to various charities. Volunteering is a very important aspect in being a good person and citizen. I really think it's an important aspect to be a good citizen because it's helping others out with there daily life. I really enjoy volunteering at different places such as Siloam Mission. Siloam Mission is a shelter for homeless people around the city of Winnipeg. I enjoy volunteering there because its fun socializing with others that work there, and it makes me feel good when I volunteer there because most of the homeless people are so appreciative for what the volunteers do. I enjoy preparing food for them it makes me feel good. Another good feature in being a good citizen is being generous to people. Being generous to people is a good thing to do because you never know what someone is going through and if you are generous it could make there day better and help them cope with whatever their daily stresses are. Being generous to people is also a very good characteristic because it makes you feel good about yourself and it makes others feel good too. Another amazing way to contribute to be a great citizen is donating money or clothing to different charities such as The Sick Kids Foundation. Donating money and clothing to charities is a good thing because a lot of the families who are trying to support their ill child are probably struggling dealing with the pain of having a sick family member and they would most likely really appreciate the kind gesture. Being a good citizen consists of three easy things helping others, being nice and giving to people in need of help.

Why is digital citizenship important today?

Digital citizenship is very important for many reasons such as using the internet safely, respectfully and responsibly. Using the internet safely is important for various reasons for example you should know the individual you are messaging back and forth because if you don't know that person they could be stealing your identity in some cases, or they could be tracking down information from your account. While using the internet you should always be aware of your surroundings. Secondly, you should utilise the internet respectfully because for example if you are on social media having a conversation with someone and you are using the internet as a resource to bully someone that is not appropriate and that is something that todays society calls "cyber bullying". Don't use the internet as a tool to be obnoxious because if you are wasting your time to make someone else feel bad about themselves that isn't using the internet to be respectful. My final reason is using the internet responsibly. When using the internet, you should always have a responsible approach, because being immature is annoying for everyone other than the person who is being immature. Overall if you are utilising the internet immaturely you probably shouldn't be using it at all. Overall digital citizenship is important for a few reasons such as being aware, being well mannered and being accountable for your actions.

Amber

1.) What are some ways we can be good citizens in our communities in Winnipeg?

We live in a great community and being a good citizen can make our community even better! There are several ways you can become a good citizen and help make our community somewhere safe, inviting, and a fun place. When people say become a better citizen, it can sometimes be difficult to think of ways that you can help you and your community be a better place. Here are some examples of things you could potentially do. Donating is one most effective ways you can help your community out. Some people don’t have everything that we have, as simple as something like a coat for the cold, a tooth brush, or even food, or water. The little things that you might not think could help could make a big difference in someone’s life. If you find things in your house like mittens, hats, scarfs, jackets etc just laying around and not being used, think of donating to a homeless shelter, it’ll put a smile on someone’s face and can make an impact in their life. Another way we could make this community better is by volunteering at places such as St Amant. At St Amant you work with all sorts of different people of all ages. For an example I volunteered there once a week last year and I helped feed kids, cleaned tables, played with them etc. There are so many things you can do to help make our community a better place.

2.) Why is digital citizenship important today?

Electronics have become a huge part of all of our daily lives in this generation, therefore everyone is always on the phones/ laptops. With all the different kinds of social medias people don’t even think about what there sending or posting on there, things don’t disappear that’s why I strongly propose before posting/sending anything on social media that you T.H.I.N.K. Teenagers are constantly on social media and posting things that they would never think about what could happen when it comes back to bit you in the future. When you want to apply to a job, they will always search up you’re name and see what kind of person you are like. Often teens don’t think about the consequences like, oh if I post about what drugs I used last night no adults or police could see it because I’m private on snapchat etc. Nothing is ever ‘private’. By thinking before you post or send could help you in the future so I strongly encourage everyone to T.H.I.N.K before using social media.

A couple simple ones are just being respectful to everyone and respecting your environment, which means doing things like not littering and recycling. Getting involved in your community can also make you a good citizen. Volunteering at places like Siloam Mission or a soup kitchen gets you involved and makes you a good citizen. Donating things like clothes or toys to places like the Salvation Army is something you can do. Giving back to the community is huge and more people should be doing that, and it is the best way to be a good citizen. Overall, being a good citizen is just being respectful to everyone and helping out in the community.

2.) Why is digital citizenship important today?

Being a good digital citizen means being able to use technology and the internet safely and responsibly. Using this statement, digital citizenship is important because you need to be able to understand that behind every screen there is a person. Every human has rights and one right is freedom of speech, which means you should be able to speak what you think about a certain topic. Freedom of speech is important but especially on the internet, it should not be used in a negative way. People lose their jobs from certain posts on social media, and after that happens it can be very difficult to find another one. In summary, being a good citizen on the internet and on social media is important because it is how we all communicate now, and we need to respect each other. Reputations can also be ruined online, that is why digital citizenship is important.

Love

1. Why is digital citizenship important today?

Nowadays, when we post, share, or comment anything on social media we don’t think about how it’s going to affect us and others.

Digital citizenship is important to help us learn, communicate safely and protect ourselves in the online world. Kids are usually on their technology’s a lot more these days, whether it’s on their phone, laptops, or iPad/tablets. When we are close to our technology we must always be careful with what we do, say, post or share on the internet. We as teenagers need to realize and understand how our activity on social media affect other people. The internet is the worst place to spread rumors, whether they are true or not, because once it’s out there, there’s no taking it back, it might be shared multiple times and could ruin someone, so we must watch what we say on the internet, especially with us teenagers. When we post we don’t really think about how it looks to other people or how it affects them. Since adults can’t always be monitoring what we do online, it is our duty as teenagers to understand what digital citizenship is about and use it in the online world. We must be careful with who we talk to and how our massage is being delivered. On any social media platforms, we must know who we have as friends and have the ability to communicate safely and responsibly, we also have a right to protect our private life on the internet.

2. What are some ways that we can be good digital citizens when we are online or using social media?

Since digital citizenship has to do with the how you use social media and the internet, there are different ways to be a good digital citizen online.

Whatever we post on the media or when we comment on post, our comments or post shouldn’t be negative, racist, or criticism because that’s the root of cyber bullying. If you can’t say something you wouldn’t normally say to a person’s face then you shouldn’t be saying it online, because it could drive people to do unthinkable things, with just one comment or post. Words can affect people a lot, and it also depends on how people take them. When people start posting or commenting mean things, there are always some people who will agree with whatever mean things are posted, and the more people who agrees to the comment the more the perpetrator is willing to go far with their acts. Don’t post everything you do on the internet. If someone was a smoker in their high school years and they posted a picture of themselves smoking, but they quit as they got older, if they didn’t take the picture down or if someone screenshots it and posted it on their feed, if the person wanted to get a job and they check that person social media and they saw the picture, that picture could affect their chances of them getting the job. If you are going to post a picture of someone always ask for their permission and respect their decision because the picture isn’t yours and it might not be a picture the person wants the world to see. THINK before you post.

Some ways we can help the community is volunteering, how this can help? Well it can help people not having to pay and waste money on most likely a good thing. You can donate to company’s money or food because the want to help the community also. Another is adopting animals may even children, animals want a family just as much as a child. Easy one is garbage/recycling, just through your waste into a garbage, and through recyclables into the recycling bin. Its there for a reason. Follow the law is a great one. Get a job. getting a job would help because we need someone to do some kind of particular thing. For example, being a teacher, we need someone to teach. And obviously, we need to follow the law, its not going to hurt you. Its trying to help the community, so follow and help too.

2. 1. What are some ways we can be good digital citizens when we are online or using social media?
Well one way is to be positive on your comments and posts, and that’s a really easy one. No one deserves negative feed back on there posts unless its really wrong. How can you do this? Just think before you click send. If you see something wrong on the internet try and help to get rid of the problem. For example, if you see a fight going on, try and help don’t just sit and laugh try and fix it. Same thing in real life just behind a screen. Or if u see a pile of garbage in the sea, try and make the best out of it. You can try and raise money for people to clean it. Those are just some ways you can be a good digital citizen.

-Symon

One of the ways of being a good citizen is respecting others whether they are old or young, you must treat them respectfully. There are plenty more ways to be a good citizen in our community but the most important one for me is obeying the rules and the law, because without the rules and laws people would do unreasonable things and would not know their rights. One last way is to be active in the community donate clothes that you don’t wear anymore to charities and volunteering at senior homes to help and company the elderlies.

2) Why is digital citizenship important today?

Digital citizenship is important because most kids and adults are on technology everyday without knowing or thinking what it can do to their lives if they aren’t using it properly. For example, if a worker posted a picture of them with friends drinking alcohol and the person applied for a job, the manager looks them up online and sees the picture they will most likely not hire you just from that picture because it’s a bad reputation for the business that they applied for just because of a picture and this happens to many people that don’t end up having a job. Luckily a lot of people now these days know a lot more on how to be safe, responsible, careful online from digital citizenship.

1. What are some ways we can be a good citizens in our communities in Winnipeg?

There are many ways you can be a good citizen in our city Winnipeg. There are many places you can volunteer at and support. You could volunteer at a place like Siloam Mission where you can help make and donate food, bring in and sort clothes, wash dishes and donate money too help the people less fortunate then you. In addition to that, there is also the humane society were they look after malnourished, injured or homeless animals. You can adopt or foster animals, donate money and go in to play with the animals. Another way you can be a good citizen is to support local businesses or you could create your own business. By supporting local businesses you are helping their business stay viable in the city and both of these examples help support the economy by creating jobs and providing more tax dollars in our city. Another basic thing you can do is just be a good human, be kind to you fellow citizens and take care of the city. Things like cleaning up garbage and taking care of the roads help make our city better.

2.Why is digital citizenship important today?

We live in an age where it is possible to know what someone on the other side of the world is doing. Were you can chat to someone millions of miles away. Which is amazing, we can talk to family we hardly ever see and you can play games with friends even when you are not together. Although this is all amazing and great there are many times when people use the technology we have to hurt others. There are many cases of cyber bullying, about half of the worlds youth have experienced some form of cyber bullying and 10 to 20 percent experience cyberbullying on a regular basis. There have also been many times when this form of bullying has had severe consequences. So when you are online doing what ever you're doing, if you're about to post a comment or a picture; think about what you're posting or saying. Think, about if what your posting will have any negative affects on you or someone else and if are you being a good online citizen. It is always important to be kind to everyone no matter where it is online or in real life.

· What are some ways we can be good digital citizens when we are online or using social media?

While we are all on social media, we all need to be aware of what we, as digital citizens post on the internet. As human beings we all have two different types of worlds, the real life world and the virtual reality. The virtual reality is the social media where you have an internet persona, a character that represents the ‘good’ side as in the perfect anything but in reality, they might take on different trait than what you’ve seen online. What we need to do to be good digital citizens is to take the moment to think about what we post, tweet, snap, or whatever the texting is, like messaging, here are a few examples are to ponder about; Is the post/ picture appropriate? Is it offensive or disrespectful? Will it affect you or another person?

Not following these examples could possibly leave an impact on you or the person you’ve targeted, what I mean about impact it could either ruin your reputation online and the real world and also may affect your/ their future, like getting a job. Their bosses could easily search up you name/ their name to see if they’d posted anything unnecessary on media. My point is, think before you post, don’t be an idiot and ruin your future.

· Why is digital citizenship important today?

It is important nowadays to be a digital citizen because it helps children learn in a different way to help get educated through technology and most likely prepares you for future jobs, such as policemen, government jobs, engineer and etc. Being a digital citizen also leaves a bit of history about you for example, when you die. You’d already left digital footprints behind (such as a facebook profile) It is a sign that you’d lived and that you were there, here on earth to experience what as happened in the past.

1. What are some ways we can be good citizens in our communities in Winnipeg?

Although there are very many choices on different ways we can support our communities and be good citizens within Winnipeg, there are some that are more popular choices and stand out more than others, things like participating in earth day or adopting an animal instead of buying one from a breeder. Things like these may look and feel like small things that won’t make much of a difference, but even though they feel small they make a world of difference since many people do them. While doing things like volunteering and helping out the community another large part of being a good citizen is being sure not to say discriminatory things no matter the situation, whether that is being sexist, racist or just plain offensive.

2. What are some ways we can be good digital citizens when we are online or using social media?

When we’re on social media sometimes we get caught up in the moment and don’t think about what we’re about to do and the consequences that could come with it, everybody makes mistakes and does things they regret in the future. The illusion that whatever you post on the internet can just disappear makes these mistakes so much easier to make, it also increases the importance of paying attention to what your doing online drastically. Throughout all of the time I have been on the internet I have developed two rules of thumb: “if you wouldn’t say it to family, don’t say it at all” and “if you wouldn’t say it in person, don’t say it at all”.

1. What are some ways we can be good citizens in our communities in Winnipeg?

In today’s modern society there seems to be many unfortunate people in our communities and city, but we can do many things that benefit others and our community and city, for example what I do sometimes is that I go into downtown and find hungry and homeless people, and what I do is take them with me to buy them some food. People think being a good citizen means you must go join a huge organization and do big things like organize community clean ups, that’s nice and all, but the task doesn’t have to be big you can go on your own and help those you see yourself, small things can benefit people in big ways. What you could also do is help kids who don’t have the money to play organized sports and activities by donating money to them or paying for them, so they can enjoy being young and free. There are still tons of ways to help others, what you could also do is help and support kids with mental disabilities such as autism and ADHD by being a caring friend to them and getting to know who they are. As you can see you can do anything to help your community and city as long as you care enough to take it seriously.

2. Why is digital citizenship important today?

Have you ever heard of a digital citizenship, what is it anyways?
First off what is a digital citizenship. A digital citizenship is the means or the right to use technology and how you use it. Why is a digital citizenship important in todays modern world? Digital citizen ships are important because it helps us understand what the responsibilities are of using a digital device while using the internet, so that we don’t hurt others while using technology like saying rude comments or posting very offensive videos. A digital citizenship is also your identity behind your computer, and what you do on your computer describes what type of person you are. Its also important to have a digital citizenship so that we can use the internet safely and so we aren’t hurt as well, so if someone was threatening another person online they can track his digital citizenship. Being a digital citizen also means being able to protect your private information from others that want to steal your information, being a digital citizen also means being careful what you see on the internet so it doesn’t affect their safety and so they wont deal with the consequences of their mistake. In conclusion digital citizenship is important so that people can stay safe while using technology.

Nowadays mostly youngsters post pictures on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat etc. without minding what they have just posted. People just take a random picture and think it is good enough and just post it without thinking is it ok, is it going to hurt others etc. We need to be careful of what we share and post online. Comments, social media posts, photos, and anything else you post or share online is not guaranteed to be protected from online hackers, and predators. Even if you are sharing to only to specific people on highly pass worded protected sites. Post and share only things you'd be ok with everyone you know and people who don't know seeing. we need to T.H.I.N.K. before posting, T.H.I.N.K. before sharing. Being safe on the internet is a whole other topic, different from a good digital citizen. Another thing is don’t share anything that you don’t own, don’t believe in everything you see and hear, don’t post anything you don’t want to last forever and don’t spend all your free time online.
WHAT ARE SOME WAYS WE CAN BE GOOD CITIZENS IN OUR COMMUNITIES IN WINNIPEG?
First of what is a citizen? A citizen is someone who is legally recognized. One of the ways is to get a good education. One of the best things to help your community is to get a good education. Make sure you work hard, even if you don’t have a job seek a local unemployment office for help. Share your good fortune, when you have time, volunteer around your neighborhood for donations (The Siloam Mission need people to donate and in need of food). You can volunteer at a local soup kitchen or shelter to help the homeless people around us. Donate blood, there are people in need of blood. If you have a rare blood type, you can be the difference between life and death for someone in our community. Get trained in the CPR and First aid, as well as another emergency training, so you can help a fellow citizen when emergency arises. Create job opportunities for people who don’t have any. Stay healthy, with many vaccine-preventable childhood diseases on the rise, it may be a good idea to update yours. You aren’t risking yourself, as an adult, but unvaccinated children around you. Protect your cities future by recycling. Recycle papers and plastics according to the cities recycle system. Watch where and how you wash your car, the soap used for washing cars are very destructive to the environment (often contaminating drinking water!). start by washing your car less and wash your car yourself. When you do wash your car, use environmentally friendly products. At a minimum, move your car onto the grass to wash it. This will help keep the chemicals out of your drinking water. Try to go waterless and simply clean your car with a green window or all-purpose cleaner. Preserve water and don’t waste it or leave it running. Preserve energy, people tend to leave their room light on after walking out. Use public transportation more often to save our planet from pollution.

~ Promise~
