This was a memorable moment for me because It had been a while since me and my mom went on a trip, so I found the view perfectly matched with the atmosphere.

I used pencil because I wanted to outline is before using colors, but I ran out of time.

There was originally a thought that the colors would really match the vibe and the mood of the view, and I though that adding the colors would make the drawing "warmer."

This was a memorable moment for me because it was the first time I have ever tried a donut from another country, and I wanted to see if it would taste better, and it definitely did.

I used paint as the wet media because I really wanted to bring out what the colors looked like. I know it doesn't seem much but I feel that whenever I look at this painting, I would think back to the actual donut and get really hungry.

There was a connection with the media and the event because like I said, whenever I look at the painting, I get very hungry just by looking at it. So, I think the media definitely brought the memories back.

I will achieve this goal is by working hard, committing to practice, and trying hard in every event leading up to our seasac meet.

I did not mix any other media with the collage. I wanted to really bring out the collage and everything coming together, just like how every hour I put into swimming would probably bring me into the varsity team for swimming.

I think I semi-communicated with what I look forward to this year. I ran out of time to add the varsity with the paper, but I am glad I got the swimming down because that is the whole purpose of the collage.

I am pretty surprised with the result considering out progress from last class, and I am pretty proud of my team.

In the beginning, we definitely struggled with the form and the whole structure itself, as well as the space, but after all of that, we still managed to create a 3-dimensional pose. My definition of struggle and play did change a bit, but most of it is still the idea of even thought there is a lot of space, the person still can't move because of the tape. But, most of it is still around the idea of how there could be a lot of irony when it comes to struggle & play.

The media can really affect the overall mood and meaning of the artwork by making the audience experience different emotions. Different tools can help communicate different ideas or feelings by using elements within to transfer the artist's emotions into the painting.

When it comes to control, sometimes you really have to limit yourself to not go overboard with something, otherwise you may not communicate as effectively. Some media, like ink, takes a lot of control to not use it too much, while some other ones allows you to explore a lot more.

What was hard for me about simplifying into basic shapes was how it affected my usual habits; I usually go straight into details, so it was kind of hard adjusting.

I think I demonstrated my best use of lines and shapes in the last row because I think I have a good overall structure to work with.

This practice of drawing a foundation with lines and shapes help my future drawings by changing the habit of not rushing into details, but instead create something to build off of.

Color + Line - I am pretty comfortable with colors and lines because I think they are pretty basic things/elements in art and in my opinion, doesn't require much skill.

Shape - I am also pretty comfortable with shapes because I think if I am comfortable with lines ,and when I combine them together, shapes would come together by themselves.

Form - I think form is in my risk zone because I am not great at creating illusions, so form would probably be pretty challenging.

Value - Like form, I think that value is in my risk zone because value creates form, and so I would definitely put this in my risk zone.

Texture - I think texture is in my risk zone because for me, it is pretty challenging to try and have the audience try to feel what an artwork may feel like.

Space - Like form, I am not great with illusions, so when it comes to creating depth, I would say I would probably struggle a lot.

(For the ones in risk zone, I am open to learning, but they probably won't always be my first choice)

No drawing is perfect, perfect can't be defined. So, rather than a polished piece, a piece full of imperfections but intense detail can really bring out more emotion.

I tried balancing the media I used with the accuracy by looking at different shades and even tried to incorporate some form into the drawing to make it more accurate.

The whole contour part definitely felt easier since the grids act as a guide, but the challenging part was still getting all of the detail and value in the drawing as it takes a lot of precision. Details are still challenging for me considering the precision and the amount of attention I have to pay, so details in general are pretty challenging for me.

Whenever I draw, I always use the grid method, so I will still apply this method in my future drawings by continuing to use this method for better proportion, position, and just knowing the right size for the whole drawing.

What I see that keeps appearing in my sketches are like I said, the overall structure and planning of my final drawing. I think that I really put a lot of effort into the overall organization of my final piece because I really wanted all of the components to come together.

I don't have any specific questions, but I do know that my theme is childhood snacks, and I also know that I will be incorporating life into my artwork.

How I revised throughout my sketches was really getting the proportions correct in order to make it as realistic as possible. These changes affected my decisions by really making me focus a lot of detail and proportion since about half of my project would be realistic.

I was deeply inspired by an artist called Rob Foote. His drawings always incorporate animals with fruits or foods, similar to mine. The names of his artworks are also a play on words, like "Crabapple" and "Fruit fly." So, inspired by him, I also though it would be quite interesting to have a name that could allow me to draw 2 things that are related to each other. Following that inspiration, I would like to call my piece "Goldfish" since it shows the childhood snack we all used to eat, and also the fish.

During this project, I faced multiple challenged throughout planning and also the drawing process. I had trouble thinking of a topic that many, if not all, could relate to. I wanted to make something that was sort of realistic, but also has a playful yet nostalgic touch to it. I also had challenges when it came to how much is too much, and also the proportions of some of the elements in my artwork. I kept asking my self, "is this enough detail or should I add more?" However, I did experiment while creating and it really helped me to make the right decisions. On the other hand, the proportions was something I had a tough time with. I kept on changing my artwork because it looked "off" and "weird," but after a long process of having the right sizes, I did eventually overcome my challenges.

Overall, the aim of my artwork was to relate with the audience and also to show contrast in my artwork. The difference between the crackers being inanimate and the goldfish that were "alive" represented the change from being a child to growing up and actually "living." The artwork is almost symbolic and metaphorical to our lives, highlighting the biggest change, going from a child to maturing overtime.

I am not very comfortable with movement, balance, proportions, harmony, unity, and rhythm. Harmony, unity, and balance is challenging for me because sometimes I struggle with not knowing which elements go well with others. Proportion is challenging for me because I struggle with realism, so proportions may really affect my skills with realism. Also, movement is challenging for me as well because I tend to let the viewer feel a sense of movement.

However, I think I can be more comfortable with them by experimenting with them constantly and trying out new skills related with the skills that I am not familiar with.

Positive shape contour really helped because it has similar, almost the same, concept of positive and negative space. So, I found that drawing technique really helpful.

Simplifying into black and white can help me with composition and the principles of design by helping me with the proportions of the elements. It can also help with the composition because building off from the proportions, I could end up with a well structured piece of artwork.

I think the ideas behind Notan can really influence and help with my future artworks by getting a sense of balance as well as proportion. Balance and proportion is something that I still find tricky, but using Notan, I think I can slowly start to improve.

Top Left: The main technique I used is is symmetry, which creates a Notan contrast between the buildings and the reflection

Top Right: I achieved depth via linear perspective. The shapes are flatly drawn, but I tried incorporating a 3-d look.

Bottom Left: It shows volume because the curved lines make the structure look solid and close up, filling the space. Also, to form a low angle, I decided to make the cylindrical building's wall diagonal lines to make it seem like the higher up, the smaller the structure will look like.

All of the sketches use these principles of design:

• Balance: All are centered and balanced, using mirroring or being placed right in the middle.

• Repetition: The repeating windows and arches create a clear pattern or rhythm.

I would present the top left since it clearly shows balance and symmetry. Also, it had a lot of detail, so there could be a lot we could talk about/present.

The unexpected outcomes that I experiences were understanding the chapter beyond the surface level and gaining new perspectives of viewing the chapter. I think being able to work with other people really helped with those "unexpected outcomes." The pleasant surprises that I had were being able to add even more than just buildings. I found out that I wasn't limited to just buildings, I was basically limited to nothing. So, the pleasant surprise was me being able to add more beyond buildings, I could also add natural elements as well.

I think we might need cardboard, balsa wood, paint, colored pencil, and maybe markers. Cardboard and balsa wood for the basic structure of the final piece. Paint, colored pencil, and markers for making the scenery more vibrant and realistic. We could also add some small trinkets, like beads or small metals to add even more detail.

I plan on adding texture during or after the construction of the basic foundation. I plan on adding details such as tiles or some decorations in my city.

One challenge with the hard edges is making the shadow on the ground look different from the shadow on the object.

In my drawings, because the edges are all equally sharp, it can sometimes be hard to tell where the object ends and the ground begins.

I translated my city and interpreted along with my partner Kandy and we thought about all the different possibilities and unique aspects our city could possess. We ended up deciding that instead of only constructing a normal city, we wanted our city to have something that other cities wouldn’t. We could’ve just added buildings, roads, and bridges, but we wanted something else, so we settled on building a castle. 

The one aspect that stood out to me was that our chapter depicted a city being reflected, forming two identical ones. So, I really wanted to capture that look by matching our invisible city building. To fully capture the identicalness, I used carbon paper and traced a photo of my city, then I started to add detail and shade. To fully make it look realistic, I used blending to fully show the difference in values, creating a 3-dimentional illusion. 

Throughout the process, I kept the different aspects of the photo in mind, like the light source and all the different shadows. Keeping those factors in mind really guided me while creating my artwork by making everything look balanced, proportionate, and cohesive.
