During your holidays/weekend have you (with your friends/family) ever visited a NATURAL RESERVE or a PARK ZOO/ANIMAL PARK /ANIMAL SANCTUARY/ETC MUSEUM? Choose a visit you enjoyed .Do you still remember it? NATURAL RESERVE/ PARK ZOO/ANIMAL PARK /ANIMAL SANCTUARY/MUSEUM Facilities? Guides? Organised tours? Why was the tour enjoyable – what did they do right? Did you (OR your children) take part to any interactive activities? How did you find the signs/information boards/etc? Was it informative? Did you learn any facts/figures? Anything else you were impressed with?

Polkemmet Country Park

I recently visited Polkemmet Country Park with my dog to go a walk. When driving into the park there are signs showing the different car parks, we parked at the one next to the Scottish Owl Centre. From this car park, it is only a minute walk until you reach a swing park, there are paths that you can follow from the swing park which lead you to the walk around the park. Along the path there is signs to show where you are walking to and with information on how to get to different areas of the park. The walk is amazing and very scenic, it's also super clean. We walked around the park and the views were amazing as it was just as the sun was setting, only thing I wish is that the walk was longer as it only took around 40mins to walk the full thing. As mentioned above there is also the Scottish Owl Centre which unfortunately was closed by the time I got there however I think this would be an amazing day trip and is something I am definitely looking to visit in the future. There is also a golf course near the park.

In April 2023 i visited the monkey park in Tenerife with my partner, step son and nephew. This park was very well signed posted and had a one way system so everyone got to see all the animals that were staying there. The employees were very interactive with the guests from letting you feed all the guinea pigs to hold a monkey on your arm while telling you more information about the animal. Me and my step son mostly enjoyed feeding the guinea pigs are they were very cute and you could purchase a small container of fresh vegetables to feed them. There was lots of information regarding the animals that was interesting and simplified for younger children. The animals were very well looked after and the park was spotless. I would definitely recommend this park to anyone who may be visiting Tenerife.

In 2022 I went to Thailand with my two best friends. We went to the Koi Samui elephant sanctuary where they had 4 elephants. We got to make their food and feed them fruit which we got shown how to do by the group of people that worked and volunteered there. We also learned a lot of facts about the elephants there and got lots of pictures. we then got to go in a mud bath with them and cover them in mud to cool them down and then go in a water bath where we could throw water on them. once we had finished that there was showers for us to use and get clean there was also toilets there to use. One of the workers there taught us how to make papaya salad and we also had a buffet for lunch. Before it was time to leave we got given key chains and elephant poo envelopes that they made themselves. We also got given information leaflets and got given a link to where there was professional pictures of us all with the elephants. The staff where amazing at their job and gave us so much information about the rescue and how it works. They also provided transport to and from the sanctuary.
