1. Pearls are round, precious beads formed in an oyster or mollusc. It is a luxury item that was once only worn by royalty.

2. Pearls are formed when an irritant, usually a small organism, makes its way inside the oyster. The oyster will trigger its defence response, and cover the irritant with nacre, the same material as the inner lining of the pearl. After months or years of being covered with it, it forms a smooth and shiny pearl.

3. Pearls take very long to grow and culture, and not all pearls will appear the same, thus, more shinier, round pearls are more valuable than dull, deformed ones. People buy the pearls as status symbols, celebrities buying hundreds, thousands of pearls, to show off their wealth.

4. Pearls, again, take a very long time to grow, and that's for the cultured ones. Natural pearls, ones formed in the wild, are often more expensive than cultured ones. The Natural pearls have a limited supply, as it takes pure luck and lots of oysters to find even just one. Cultured pearls however, are man-made, and can be mass produced and more easily made, but it's a long, and hard process to get some pearls.

5. Pearls have an array of reasons of why they're expensive. Natural and Cultured are one, but the size, colour, luster, and surface are other reasons. Such as people preferring pink shades of white pearls instead of green ones, larger pearls going for more, or pearls going for less due to dull luster.

Why are Sea Sponges So Expensive

Sea sponges are a natural resource that comes from the ocean floors of Greece, Cuba, the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean and Florida. Though synthetic sponges are much cheaper and have many uses, sea sponges are still commonly used in pottery, painting and even in surgical tools.

First, a diver hand-harvests the sponges from the sea floor (around 50m), leaving enough sponge substrate for it to be regrown. After that, producers clean batches of the sponges to remove an black residue and dirt from the sea. A worker then trims each sponge one by one. They trim it until the sponges are small enough to bathe with.

Before the 1940s, there was a high demand for sea sponges since synthetic sponges have yet to be invented. After that, the demand for natural sponges have slowly decreased but are still quite popular to this day. These days, people who are living a zero-waste lifestyle and generally just people who want to reduce the amount of waste they are producing tend to set back around $30 for a natural sponge.

Though quite plentiful a couple centuries ago, sea sponges are now a decreasing resource. Climate change and waste from pollution contribute to the declining population of high quality sea sponges. Also the fact that the entire process of harvesting and producing the sponges are done by hand. The dangers of diving 50m beneath the sea also contributes to the small number of divers still harvesting sponges to this day.

Sea sponges are expensive because it is dangerous to harvest, has a declining population and are difficult to produce.

1. Hong Kong is one of the most expensive city in the world to find a place to live. The average rent in the city is nearly twice that of London. The pricing seems to have no limit.

2. Housing in Hong Kong is quite rare since only a small part of Hong Kong's land is developed. This is because of Hong Kong's colonial past, where it was designed to be a low-tax, business friendly hub. And it still continues to this day. Until 1947, only expatriates were allowed to live in houses overlooking Hong Kong.

3. It has a high demand and of course everyone needs a home to live in. Also, majority of the people living in Hong Kong are not always rich. Most of the people that buys the houses on the hills are billionaires.

4. Housing in Hong Kong is quite rare since only a small part of Hong Kong's land is developed. Less than one-quarter of Hong Kong's land is developed and only 3.7% is zoned for high-density urban living.

5. So all in all, Hong Kong has expensive housing because their land is not fully developed yet. While the government is building up unused industrial areas in new territories, only 27 acres would be used for public housing.

1. Black Opal is one of the most enchanting stones of the world as they display a seemingly infinite display of colours. Compared to common opal, black opal exhibits many different colours contrasted by a dark body tone.

2. First, miners start by drilling a vertical shaft in an area where they think contains opal. Then they must clear out an underground room large enough to start digging at the rock and extract the opal clay from the ground, put it onto a truck, and take the opal to a puddling site. Then they continue to check if there is any opal inside. However, it takes a large amount of money to buy the equipment needed to find black opal. Opal is formed when silica-rich groundwater hardens in rocks over millions of years and creates vibrant colours by diffracting light.

3. Black Opal has a high demand, however they have lack of supply and jewellery cutters and miners can barely keep up with the demand at the moment.

4. Black Opal is a very rare product and even for experts, mining black opal is not easy and is found in only a few parts of the world such as Ethiopia, Brazil, Mexico and Australia.

5. In conclusion, Black Opal is very expensive because they are extremely rare. It is only found in several parts of the world and are also very difficult to mine. To mine for Black Opal it can cost around $150,000 to $100,000.

Why are Full-Spectrum CBD Oil is So Expensive

1. Reputable companies don't simply make CBD oils and put them out in the world. They engage in extensive research and development, abide by current good manufacturing practices (GMP), and enact stringent quality control and testing to create superior hemp products.

2. When making a full spectrum CBD extraction, the idea is to squeeze all the natural compounds out of the hemp plant while still maintaining the purity of all CBD components in the extract. The result is a hemp CBD extract that contains all of the cannabinoid goodness the plant can offer.

3. Due to its healing properties, the demand for cannabidiol (CBD) for health and wellness purposes is high, which is the major factor driving the market growth. In addition, the rising acceptance and use of products due to government approvals is a major factor expected to boost production for CBD-infused products.

4. You can buy CBD just about anywhere — in health food shops, dispensaries, and supermarkets. But by far the best place to get these products is online, directly from the manufacturer.

5. One of the biggest reasons why the cost of CBD is so expensive is because it's a new product. The production of hemp only became legal in 2018, and like any product that's only recently hit the market, CBD oil products are experiencing some price inflation.

1. Truffles are edible subterranean fungi that have been prized as a food delicacy from Classical times. The different species range in size from that of a pea to that of an orange, and they are native mainly to temperate regions.

2. Farmers grow truffles by inoculating the roots of saplings with truffle spores, then harvesting the truffles in 6 to 7 years. This technique was first recorded in 1969. However, truffles require a complex combination of appropriate weather conditions, soil chemistry, and a bit of luck to grow successfully.

3.Demand for truffles in the country stands at a market volume of 121,869 Kg, and is expected to surge at a CAGR of 8.2% in terms of volume. Truffles are a great source of antioxidants, compounds that help fight free radicals and prevent oxidative damage to your cells. Studies show that antioxidants are important to many aspects of your health and may even be linked to a lower risk of chronic conditions, such as cancer, heart disease and diabetes

4. Truffles are rare, in part, because they are nearly impossible to cultivate (recreating the necessary growing conditions is both difficult and costly and it can take years to yield truffles and decades to turn a profit). They are also hard to find.

5. According to the American Chemical Society, the distinctive smell of truffles comes from the chemical compound methane inside of it. The unique aroma of truffles also fades quickly after harvest. ... In other words, the storage time for truffles is also very limited and again this makes them even more expensive.

why nike air jordans are so expensive

1. The Air Jordans. Since the first collection got on the shelves of sports stores back in 1985, these sneakers have become a legend in the world of sports shoes. Many of these famous sneakers now behave like those old valuable classic cars. The older they get, the higher their price and demand. Air Jordans correlate with luxury, hence considered a luxury brand. That's because they technically qualify as designer shoes. They're not mass-produced court sneakers either.

2. Air Jordan 1 are partly made of leather, suede, faux leather and other materials. Air Jordan 1 Highs are often among the highest quality models and therefore also feature full leather construction. Air Jordan 1 Mids as well as Lows combine leather with faux leather or canvas and other synthetic materials. As technology improves, so do Air Jordans. The Air Jordan 11 was a revelation to the comfort of these shoes: a carbon fibre sole shank that increased stability and was stronger than ever. Another big addition followed in the form of the Jordan 12 with its new Zoom Air technology. The low-profile cushioning system features a pressurised Air unit containing high-tensile fibres and was so effective that it was the go-to cushioning system for almost every game shoe that came after.

3. The Fragment's resale value more than doubles its competition. These shoes were both sold in limited releases, so why did Jordans become so much more expensive? It all has to do with the value of the Jordan brand and how it makes and markets its iconic sneakers. Air Jordans are normally, and logically, bought by people who enjoy playing sports (specifically basketball). Due to the technology infused in the shoes, it makes it really comfortable for people who play basketball regularly as it won't cause their feet pain. They're also quite fashionable looking. Which brings us to the next customer: Regular people, or just people who don't really play basketball. As they are considerably fashionable looking and pull off a retro vibe, Air Jordans can also be used as everyday shoes. And again, since the infused technology makes it really comfortable to use, it's a win-win.

4. Nike Air Jordans are one of the most widely collected sneakers in the world. The release of the first Jordans in 1985, is considered to be the start of the “sneakerhead” movement and popularised the collection of sneakers. While Jordans are largely stocked, there are some designs or generations that are so rare because very limited quantities were produced and sold. Like some variations of this shoe has had only 10 of it ever produced and sold in the world. While buying a new pair of Air Jordans today is pricier than other standard basketball shoes, it’s the reselling of older versions where the shoes really become expensive. So yes, in a way they are rare and valuable products.

5. It takes more time and money to manufacture products with high-quality materials than it does with low-quality materials. Since Air Jordans use a lot of those materials, it becomes an expensive shoe. Nike needs to price the shoes high enough to cover the cost of making them. The shoe also naturally gained value and popularity overtime, which factors into its infamous price nowadays. Since Air Jordans are associated with Michael Jordan, –– former successful NBA star and celebrity –– it would make sense for the price to go up as well as more people would want to purchase the shoes as they correlate with a well-known celebrity. The Air Max technology brought a new type of cushioning to the shoe that helped support the foot on hard landings, which also played a part in its overall price. The reason they’re expensive is that Air Max requires more materials and better engineering than standard shoes with standard cushioning, and since Air Max technology requires more work in the factory, it adds to the overall cost of Air Jordans. It's logical to pay a right amount for the quality you'd be getting. People see a new release of an Air Jordan and expect that it’s going to be high-quality. That being said, Nike does put a lot of effort into their reveals. The heavy price of their reveals is included in the overall price of the shoe. The more that they spend hyping up the product, the more expensive it’s going to be. One final thing to note is that because they’re in limited supply, it creates a natural desire to want a piece of the limited selection. It allows the consumer to say that they have something that few other people also have. When consumers buy Air Jordans, they’re also buying the experience of owning something that’s limited in the world. Thanks to Nike’s low-supply approach, Air Jordans are expensive.
