I currently work as a Specialist Teacher at Al Ain Autism Center under Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination. I have also worked at Mohammed bin Rashid Center for Special Education, supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder through behavioral therapy and educational programs. Alongside my work, I regularly conduct workshops and training sessions for educators and parents in the fields of ABA and special education.

I am passionate about improving educational systems, empowering students with special needs, and supporting teachers through evidence-based practices. Being back at ECAE for my Master’s feels like a natural step, and I look forward to growing as an educational leader and contributing positively to my community.

My name is Mahra Khamis Al Shamsi. I graduated from HCT with a Bachelor’s degree in Childhood Education, and I have been teaching kindergarten students at Nahyan Al Awwal School.

Studying for a Master’s degree has always been one of my biggest dreams, and I am really excited to take on this new challenge. I also want to continue developing my leadership skills, because I believe that will help me grow and become the best version of myself.

I am especially enthusiastic about starting the course. I believe this course will provide me with the skills, knowledge, and perspective needed to enhance my teaching practices, contribute to my school’s improvement, and take on greater leadership responsibilities in the future.

Before becoming a Vice Principal, I worked as an English teacher for two years, followed by seven years as a Special Education teacher. These experiences gave me diverse exposure across different grade levels, from kindergarten to upper grades, and enabled me to understand the varying needs of students across different ages and backgrounds

My teaching experience started in 2005 as a reserve teacher in government schools until 2010 when I was appointed to Al Danat private School as a kg2 teacher for four years. When it closed in 2014, I returned to teaching again as a reserve teacher in government schools until I was appointed to the Emirates Foundation in 2023 as a teacherin first-cycle student , with my own strong desire, even though my specialization is Arabic language and literature, because I found myself with first-cycle students.

I completed my bachelor’s degree at UAEU in 2022. I have two years of teaching experience in my specialties, and I am now in my third year. I also have 7 months of experience as a teaching assistant and worked as a research assistant during my studies.

During my final years at university, I discovered my interest in leadership and management, which motivated me to continue developing in this field.

One of my most impactful leadership experiences was in my first year of teaching, when I planned and delivered a workshop on an AI website. At first, I felt nervous, but once I started, I embraced the challenge with confidence.

That experience showed me the importance of stepping up and trusting myself as a leader.
