Melinda’s teachers often fail to notice her distress, focusing more on academic performance than her emotional well-being. This lack of awareness creates an environment where she feels invisible and unsupported, reinforcing her silence. For instance, her art teacher eventually becomes a critical figure who encourages her expression, but earlier, other teachers overlook her struggles, contributing to her feelings of isolation.
