The blue and white colors are modeled after the flag of Argentina, and the nine stripes represent the nine departments within the country.<br>5)Uruguay is the only country in Latin America which is entirely outside of the tropics.<br>6)In 2009, Uruguay became the first country in the world to provide every schoolchild with a free laptop and WiFi access.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Uruguay was a buffer territory between the competing colonial pretensions of Portuguese Brazil and Spanish Empire. The Portuguese first explored the region of present-day Uruguay in 1512–1513.<br>The Brazilian Empire became independent of Portugal in 1822. In response to the annexation, the Thirty-Three Orientals, led by Juan Antonio Lavalleja, declared independence on 25 August 1825 supported by the United Provinces of the Río de la Plata.This led to the 500-day-long Cisplatine War.</div>]]></description>
