The "protective layer" which consists of water vapor, methane and carbon dioxide, contributes to the fact that some of the incoming heat radiation is stored on the earth and does not return. The greenhouse gases let the rays from the sun almost unhindered on the earth. There they are partly stored by the earth and the plants, but also sent back into the atmosphere as heat radiation. There, some of the radiation is scattered back to Earth. This ensures that the earth does not cool down. People are increasingly emitting carbon dioxide through the factories and car exhaust fumes into the atmosphere. As a result, the absorbed rays can not return throgh the atmosphere, but remain on the Earth an thus the warmth builds up on the Earth. This has the consequence that global warming continues to rise and this has fatal consequences for nature.

In 2008, a "Green new deal" was launched with the help of the United Nations Enviroment Programme. This deal should enable developing countries to build a green economy with financial support. THey want to save the climate with the green economy and at the same time let their economy grow. If a company in a poor country does not have money for a healthier production, the company is to be given money by a larger company or another country for it.  They will also get their money back because the company will grow with better production. One idea is that companies that produce healthy nature are better supported, for example, that they have to pay lower taxes.
