I earned my BS in Biology from the State University of New York at Oswego in 2013.

I spent most of the past 5 years working in the Histology department of a clinical laboratory. I enjoyed that job, but I never felt challenged. I always found myself wondering if there was something different that I could be doing.

I am just finishing my first month as a full-time teacher.

I am the 7th grade Science teacher at the Fine Arts Academy in the Littleton Elementary School District. As of yesterday, I am also working on my certification through the Teacher in Residence program.

Teaching has been difficult and stressful so far. I have been spending most of my time working on school-related things, including nights and weekends. I know this is probably due to my inexperience and the fact that it takes me forever to plan a lesson.

I do like teaching so far, though. It's a challenge, it's fun, it's never repetitive, and middle schoolers are awesome. On Friday, my first period class got into a heated debate about whether or not ice can be classified as a mineral. That was well worth the hours I spent trying to plan great lessons for them.

Personal:
I am originally from Syracuse, NY. I moved to the Phoenix area with my husband, James, about 5 years ago. We currently live in Goodyear, AZ with our dog, Sky (he is pictured below in his favorite bow tie collar).

When I'm not working on teaching or learning about teaching, I like to relax. I enjoy reading, writing, movies, and exploring new places. I am especially fond of anything in the sci fi and fantasy genres.
