Quality can be defined in several different ways.
This includes:
- Quality as a means of ecosystem integration with the main goals being driven by a collective consensus to fit a certain ideology or policy. This idea of quality deals with the intersubjectivity of what 'quality' may mean.

- Quality as societal value takes a holistic approach in order to meet the ideal of sustainability by using research/knowledge to improve on the system.

- Quality as customer value is based on the subjective experience of the customer/consumer and is based around the functionality of the product and its technical use. This means that the quality increases as the useful value of the product/system increases.

- Quality as agreed delivery relies on agreements and adherence to certain criteria. It is a general form of quality based on performance and agreed upon requirements.

https://doi.org/10.1080/14783363.2020.1844564
