Five students by the names of Simon, Addy, Cooper, Nate, and Bronwyn have high school detention for having their phones out, but it really was not their phones. They claim to have been framed. Only four students make it out of detention that long afternoon because one of them dies. Throughout the book, there are all the characters perspectives put to light, and the reader eventually by following the details can find out who is responsible for Simon's death. The suspicions of the police grow and they believe the one of the four students killed Simon because Simon was about to unleash private information about them on his gossip app; however, this was not a murder. Simon had killed himself and wanted to punish the four students who were in detention with him. The four students will do anything to keep the information on the gossip app from getting out. Throughout the book the students go to great lengths to keep their secrets from going public, and it is just a matter of time until they hit their down fall.
