One of my primary goals as a Spanish teacher, is to validate the linguistic capital that they already have and to build confidence in using their Spanish skills without thinking about what they don’t know, but rather how much Spanish they already have.

In my role as M.E.S.A. Program Coordinator, I’ve learned how to navigate multiple systems and processes that can directly support both students and colleagues. Such as, educational systems. I know how to move through the community college processes such as counseling referrals, which helps me guide students who are often first-generation and unfamiliar with these steps. I also understand how to leverage transfer pathways and the university admissions processes, so I can coach students through preparing competitive transfer applications.
