And now Max will do anything for her mother just to get those mother daughter moments that she missed out on. In the book Max thought "For a second I was jealous-Ella Had so much more of my mom, all the time, her whole life." And Once her mom went missing Max was determined to find her, they even teamed up with the navy and military to use a sub and go underwater to find her. when they were under water they found a mutilated animal from the radiation that was poured into the water by Mr. Chu. The mutated animals help Break open the underwater dome that was keeping Dr. Martinez was being held captive and brought her back to the sub safe and sound.

Ever since Max found out that Dr. Martinez was her mother, Max was attached and would do anything for her mom. Max's personality is very over protective and she usually never lets her guard down. Earlier in the book Max had an encounter with a man named Mr. Chu and he wanted the CSM ( Coalition To Stop The Madness)  stop their project on stopping the pollution in ocean water  but, Max refused  his offer to stop working with the CSM. Mr. Chu was angry and took precautionary measures and kidnapped Max's mother. Another reason Mr.Chu took Dr. Martinez is because, Max's Mother is also one of the head leaders of CSM. The book is really well written but, the book was also kinds slow. In the middle of the book they stopped trying to find max's mother because, the had an encounter with radioactive animals that had been mutated. They didn't know what hey were so the stopped looking for her for a long time. But once they do get her I was expecting a big fight to happen and there wasn't a big fight seen to get her mother back. So the build up from the suspense to find her mother was kinda a let down and could have been a bit more interesting. But I did love the scenes with Max and Fang made me so happy because, They are such couples goals. I love them together.

To help publicize her mother's environmental group , Coalition to Stop the Madness, Max  has agreed to lead the flying flock in these touring shows. Performing soon endangers her life, however, by bringing her identity and relationship with the CSM to the immediate attention of Mr. Chu, whose business has dumped radioactive material into the ocean around Hawaii. These toxins are killing millions of fish and causing grisly mutations to other sea creatures. Mr. Chu almost kills Max  and then kidnaps her mother, holding her for ransom in a submarine. With the flock members' extraordinary abilities—Gazzy's inventiveness, Max's  strength and intuitive "voice" in her head, and Angel's telepathy and her ability to speak to some helpful mutant sea creatures, Max  rescues her mother. Patterson weaves humor  into the dramatic action. In addition, Max's  romantic relationship with Fang ripens to a more serious level than in the previous books. Hints of an approaching apocalypse, repeated references to Max's  "mission in saving the world," and a few lingering questions such as her precarious relationship with her father all leave open the possibility of a sequel.—James K. In more book when Max and fang were alone they would kiss because, they both liked each other. But max always pulled back and flay away beacause, she didn't know what to do with her feeling. She not  used t feeling that way towds someone. Then James Patterson puts in another female charahctor to throw you off of Fang and Max. Then all of a sudden Max and Fang were in the dessert together at night and were talking and started to make out and this time max didn't pull away. "I loved him with every cell in my body, every thought in my head, every feather in my wing, every breath in my lungs. And air sac." (Patterson 285) I liked this quote because, it shows Max's true emotion. Max didn't like to explore her emotions and she didn't like to feel what she had felt for Fang. Max was kinda afraid of her feelings he didn't want the, she knew that she could live life without them. But now she expresses her own feeling with Fang and she changed how she reacts when they kiss. Instead of pulling away and leaving in confusion, she stayed. Now I am wondering what will happen in the next book and what will change with their relationship. Like are they going to fight and break up or are they going to stay together.
