Firstly all the compounds in homologous series have similar chemical properties and are differentiated by CH2 group. Different types of series are Alkanes are saturated hydrocarbons while alkenes are unsaturated hydrocarbons. Other examples include alcohols and carboxylic acid.<br>3.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Ali Farhan<br>1.Organic chemistry is the scientific study of structures, properties and reactions of organic compounds.<br>2.Compounds which contain carbon(C) are organic compounds but have some exceptions like metal carbonates,CO2,CO are not included in organic compounds<br>3.Organic compounds containing similar chemical properties are sorted in series known as Homologous Series. examples include Alkane, Alkene, Alcohol, Carboxylic Acids, Esters, Cycloalkane etc.<br>4.Alkane is a saturated hydrocarbon series which means it doesn't have any functional group thus it is not reactive however goes under combustion and substitution reaction.<br>5. Rest all homologous series have a functional group which is the reactive part.<br>examples include (c=c) in alkene, O-H in alcohol, COOH in carboxylic acid.<br>6. Furthermore all the homologous series have a general formula which helps in deducing the formulas of the organic compounds in a particular homologous series.<br>7. Organic compounds have isomers which means same molecular formula but different structural formula<br><br></div>]]></description>
