They wrote in continued lines engraved into the terracotta modeled the earliest symbols. Though drawing was a kind of a slow paced action, symbols were later on produced by a separate cuneus,which is a writing tool, built into the terra cotta.

Sumerian Language

There are multiple languages in Mesopotamia, the oldest Sumerian, Akkadian and Hurrian. The most common out of them is Sumerian which originates in the southern part of Mesopotamia which is modern day Iraq. Sumerian vocabulary are words not Sumerian in origin, but instead ones that hark back to earlier Mesopotamian tongues and cultures. That language Sumerian was most likely to be the language they used in cuneiform at first at least. But no one actually knows because there are language gaps that we still not know today.

Denise Schmandt-Besserat was the first scientist in the world that thought that cuneiform was not the first form of keeping track of important information but it was with these little clay balls to keep track of important information for example you can use it for trade like if there is 12 sheep for 1 boat and this occurred every year so they keep 12 little clay balls in a little bag so that next year they know what is the ratio for sheep to boats. Then this developed into cuneiform for keeping track of important information better by writing in their language.

Effect Today

The effect of cuneiform helped develop ancient civilization communication. This helped keep a permanent record in ancient times by it being the material of clay which they fired in the kiln and it hardened to last a while. This permanent record lasts all the way to modern day and this is how historians learn about the roots of mesopotamia. This helped uncover what they wrote about like laws, poems, stories, proverbs and also legends.

Scribal Training

This is the first sign of formal education. This education is teaching these young scribes how to write in cuneiform. Scribes are people that professionally write to record important information. They learned how to copy down denoting officials, committees and also animals. These people were the most smart and educated people of all mesopotamians. The language that it was written in at first was in Sumerian than Akkadian, Eblaite, and Human.

Carsten was from Germany and the first person to study cuneiform. He was asked by the king to go down to the middle east to go study the floral and flora there but he did at first but at the middle of the trip his crew got terribly sick and evendial all of them died but Carsten. But when he arrived at Persepolis he recorded lots of the cuneiform that was destroyed by Alexander the Great.
