At five years old Pot Pol took over Cambodia and the nation became communist, disease, and over poor living conditions with her own strength. Ung survived war terrors, I found the book beautifully written, but gruesome. There is a sense of horror and terror throughout reading it. I thought of it as insightful and eye opening.
