June 28, 1776: A copy of the committee draft of the Declaration of Indpendece was read in Congress.
July 1-4, 1776: The Declaration of Indpendence is being revised.
July 2, 1776: The British fleet arrived in New York as the Congress is declaring independence.
July 4, 1776: The Congress adopts the Declaration of Independence.
