Our school is located in the Old town of the capital city of Slovakia – Bratislava. It is 60 years old. Focuses of the school are foreign languages (English, German) and natural science. We have 583 students from 6 to 15 years old. We aducate 41 students with aditional learning needs. In our school work inclusive team – psychologist, 2 special pedagogues and 5 assistants of teacher. Because our school is located near many embassies we have kids from many countries too.  We are the only school in the Old town it has big playgrounds (football, basketball, running track,...) Near our school you can find for example Bratislava Castle, Slovak parliament and beautiful park – Horský park with many trees and greenery. 
We have positive expierences with program Erasmus+ - we were in Germany, Finland and Portugal and we had students from this countries in our school too. We would like to establish cooperation with one of the Swedish schools. 
We are looking forward to visiting Stockholm and would like to get to know the educational process in Sweden. Our pupils are smart and creative children at the age from 6 to 14.
We organize short-term mobilities for pupils (age 13-14y) and jobshadowing for teachers. By our projects we would like to improve the communication and cooperation skills, creativity and critical thinking of our pupils. The teachers would like to share the best practices in teaching approaches. The subjects that we cover are cross-curicular topics such as environmental education, media and technology literacy, art and sport activities.
We are happy to find partners for our future projects.

The history of our school dates back to 1626.

Gamča is an 8-year, 5-year and 4-year state gymnasium, next to the Blue church in Bratislava centre. Studies at our school are mainly focused on mathematics and natural and computer sciences. Last 5 years we also have the bilingual classes. Together we have 718 students in 26 classes, at the age from 10 to 19 years and 77 teachers.

Every year in autumn the students of the third grade organize Olympics Games for all the other classes. It´s 3 months of scientific, sports, artistic and non-traditional disciplines, where each class wants to win. These games have 33 years tradition and we cooperate with The Slovak Olympics Commitee.
I hope that we will find a partner school wtih which we could share the good experiences in educational process.

School is one of a kind in Slovakia and provides comprehensive and continuous education of generally gifted pupils from the age of 5-6 to 18-19, i.e. from the first class at the primary school to graduation at the educational system of all day-care for gifted pupils between 7 AM to 5 PM.

The history of our school dates back to 1991 when The Association for Gifted Children was established. Based on the research and advice activities for the gifted, The Project of Experimental Examination of the Alternative Care of Gifted Children at Elementary Schools (Phd. J. Laznibatova, CSc., 1993) was approved by The Ministry of Education. The School for Exceptionally Gifted Children was opened in Bratislava on the 1st of January 1998.

In these days together we have 760 students in 40 classes, 83 teachers and 4 psychologist.

It was a friendly visit, with the aim to inform our ambassador about the Erasmus+ consortium and our efforts in strengthening the collaboration between Swedish and Slovak schools. His excellency spoke in depth about the philosophy of the Swedish school system, about the focus on independence and democracy as a core principle and the regard for individuality, multi-sector education, project-based learning, critical thinking, resilience to disinformation and integration. 
Him and his staff also answered our more difficult questions about digitalisation, funding, embellishing results for the sake of profit, placement of pupils and the  surge of gang violence. The visit was very pleasant and quite informative and in the following days, we would have a unique opportunity to compare and contrast this information against the reality of Huddinge. We left with an overall impression that the challenges faced and the success in tackling them in Sweden and Slovakia were comparable and exchanges and sharing strategies of best practice would be very interesting indeed.

The work the staff and students had done for a year with the World's Children's Prize and their publication The Globe magazine culminated in the visit of a special guest of honour, Cindy Blackstock, the 2023 Child Rights Hero, who was awarded the prize by Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden. This award is also dubbed the Children's Nobel Prize and thus, the whole school was bustling with excitement and we experienced a truly unforgettable day. Despite the unusual event taking place, we were received warmly, assigned our very own student guides from grade 6, who eagerly showed us around their school with pride and amazing insightful commentary in fluent English, which for most of them was a third language. As some of us are language teacher, this left a deep impact. The children were able to explain the ins and outs of their school and overall did an amazing job representing their school and communities alike. As a part of the programme, we visited classrooms and some classes, we were shown the facilities, the special rooms and workrooms, such as music, home economics, textile work and gym, including the sports grounds outside and the ice stadium. We were invited to lunch at the school canteen, the food was delicious and we had a chance to chat to Paivi, the deputy principal and some of the students and staff. In the latter part of the day, we met with principal Kaj, who openly shared the structure of the school, the system of financing, a little bit of history and we had a round-table discussion with him. Finally, head of logistics and the wonderful co-ordinator, Cecilia took charge and showed us the state-of-the art library, informed us some more about the Children's Prize and Erasmus projects that were in progress as well as the application system for them. Cecilia invited our large delegation to her house for a true Swedish dinner experience with herself, Kaj and Paivi. Ozgul and the staff at Sprakcentrum briefed us about their activities and work with minoritites, immigrants and naturalised foreign language speakers, the visit was short but fascinating, we applaud their amazing hard work and also the excellent kanelbullar on offer :) 

We continued to Kungslippeskolan, where we were welcomed by the headmistress Karin who is newly appointed to her position and she personally accompanied us around the school, explaining the system and introducing us to staff and students on the way. We were shown all the facilities, the doors were figuratively and literally opened anywhere we went and we got a chance to see the library, the quiet rooms, the wood-working and art ateliers, as well as the science lab. We were welcomed to home economics, maths, took part in a whole lesson of French, German or Spanish, according to our preference, had a chance to chat to students and teachers over lunch and visited the sports centre. Among our strongest impressions was the PE lesson with Karar, we were stunned by the inclusion of PE theory into the lesson in a fun, age-appropriate and comprehensive way. We were also impressed by the level of respect and discipline, the class had over 25 students and the lesson had a wonderful atmosphere of collaboration, honesty and integrity. The joy and fair play were clearly given priority, not the competitive aspect of sports.
