         <description><![CDATA[<div>One way my mentor teacher has started to build classroom community is by repeating the school mission statement with students during morning announcements. Another way I have seen classroom community built is by the mentor teacher asking the students about their families and about what they did over the weekend. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>They have house groups so in the classroom there are 4 different groups with 4-6 students in each. This helps them build a community among their peers. Also, the teacher allows certain groups to eat lunch in the class on fridays. Lastly, the teacher always communicates on a personal level with the students in the mornings as they come in.</div>]]></description>

They have this system of house colors where the student is given a house color, and it follows them throughout their time in elementary school. This helps brings students of every age together because students can learn from their peer, but also from students who are older or younger than them.<br><br></div>]]></description>

She also uses it a lot when the students fight and misbehave because being kind is her biggest rule. Her theme in the classroom is also moving mountains. I believe this gives a sense of community within the students and is encouraging. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Sardis does a lot to build community. They all stand by the "Bobcat 5" which are the mottos all students, teachers, and faculty go by. They also have a new Life Skills connections class where they do a "Student of the Week". One student from each class is chosen each week and in the class they work on compliments. The whole class will compliment the student and the student will compliment themselves. The Life Skills teacher is working toward more meaningful compliments, which is so cool to see.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>My mentor teacher has what is called a kindness chain in her room. Anytime she or I see a student being kind to another student in the class, we let them write their name on a slip of colorful paper and they get to attach it to the kindness chain. Lots of times, they don't even realize that we are watching. I think this is a great idea because it visualizes them being kind! </div>]]></description>
