         <description><![CDATA[<div>Write 100-150 words.<br>Good morning! first let introduce myself. My name is Anna and i'm 19 years old. I'm attending the first year of the undergraduate degree in pediatric nursing. I have taken this path because i think that helping others is the best thing that i coud do, especially if they are children.<br>There has not been a precise moment in which i decided to be a nurse because i have always liked the hospital environment.<br>I was definitely influenced by my grandparents because my grandfather was a doctor and my grandmother was a nurse. They often told me some episodes and the satisfactions they felt at work.<br>In the future i would like to be able to do my best in my work and above all to always smile at those who meet my eyes.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Unit 1 (midwife-charge nurse-rewarding)<br>1) A midwife takes care of the pregnant woman and delivers babies.<br>2) A charge nurse has many responsabilities and guides the other nurses in their work.<br>3) It's the contact with the patients that's most rewarding.<br><br>Unit 2 ( weelchair-ward-stretcher)<br>4) The first weelchair was made of wood, and it was very simply, now it is much more technological and can be used to do more things.<br>5) I have to go to the pediatrics ward because my son is not very well.<br>6)The patient has to go to surgery so we're carrying him on the stretcher.<br><br>Unit 3 ( cubicle- limb-life-threatening)<br>7) The doctor will examine you as soon as the cubicle is free.<br>8) If your limb hurts, try not to move it as it could increase yhe pain.<br>9) When a patient with a life-threatening come to hospital we must do everything possible to save him.<br><br>Unit 4 (wound-scissors-scalpel)<br>10) The patient has a deep wound on his back, i have to disinfect it.<br>11) In our work it is useful to always have a pair of scissors in our pockets.<br>12) Luckily the nurses don't have to use the scalpel in their work because it scares me.<br><br>Unit 5 ( throbbing-migraine.mild)<br>13) A throbbing pain comes and goes rhythmically, it's very annoying.<br>14) If you keep beating your head you could get a migraine !<br>15) Luckily he has a mild pain that can be tolerated very well.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I saw the tv show' New Amsterdam' that is a medical drama. The main character is Dr. Goodwin that becomes the medical director of the oldest hospital in all America. He has a different and original vision of medicine and revolutionizes the whole hospital starting from his colleagues. His goal is to create a hospital that can accomodate everyone and not exclude anyone.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The return of Thalidomide<br>Thalidomide is a drug that was used since the late 50s to combat nausea during pregnancy until 1961 when the doctor William McBride noticed a sudden increase of babies being born without one or more limbs and were discovered its catastrophic effects.<br>The drug had been believed safe because it was tested on animals without any ill-effects but following this discovery it was withdrawn from use.<br>This drug was partially reintroduced after Dr Jacob Sheskin used it in 1964 as a sedative to rielieve the suffering of a patient with leprosy and the patient healed.<br>Thalidomide has powerful antinfiammatory properties to treat arthritis, AIDS, multiple sclerosis and many autoimmune disorders but it is a drug that needs to be studied better in its mechanism of action before repeating the same mistake<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In future i would like to be a tutor because i think it is wonderful to be able to accompany someone and guide them in a path of study and growth because becoming a nurse also means growing personally. I currently see my tutor as a point of reference and i would like to be the same for my future students.<br>I would like to be able to help nursing students by taking the good tutors of now as an example and improving some aspects of them. As a tutor i will try to always involve the student in patient’s management.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>My current clinical tutor is a nurse in the neurosurgery ward. She has a lot of experience and she is very prepared.<br>She is really good at relating with children and their parents because she is very sweet, reassuring and helpful.<br>She takes care of the patient in all its facets.<br>She brings joy to the department also in the way she presents herself; in fact she has pink hair.<br>She is also very good at combining the work of nurse and tutor.<br>I admire her both as a person and as a professional figure, so I see in my tutor the professional figure I aspire to became.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>During these three years i have had the good fortune to meet many tutors and one of these, in particular, has remained in my heart. Her name is Angela and she works as a pediatric nurse in the oncology and hematology department.<br>She was and still is a point of reference for me. She is a great professional and above all a person with a heart of gold.<br>During my internship she was always by my side and always believed in me; i think this was crucial for me because i tend to be insecure when i have to do new procedures&nbsp; on a pediatric patient for the first time.<br>She taught me so much and made me grow professionally.<br>I will always be grateful to her and maybe one day i will work with her as a colleague!</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The recording i listened to shows a dialogue between nurse and patient during a blood test.<br>It is the first time that the patient has undergone a blood test to evaluate his state of health and the nurse reassures him.<br>As the nurse thought the patient is anemic but luckily the red cells are normal in size and shape; so the nurse reassures him by saying that it is not a serious situation and it is possible to intervene with same supplements.<br>The other cells are normal compared to the patient's conditions.</div>]]></description>
