The final day of the festival is called as Vijayadashami . It was the day in the Hindu legends when Goddess Chamundeshwari (Durga) killed the demon Mahishasura. The Mysore Palace is illuminated during the festival and the city streets are also lit up. According to our culture/customs, we decorate our homes during the festival and also display various dolls and artifacts that is collected over years and passed on over generations too.

The Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional holiday which occurs on the 5th day of the 5th month of the traditional Chinese calendar.

The story best known in modern China holds that the festival commemorates the death of the poet and minister Qu Yuan (c. 340–278 BC) of the ancient state of Chu during the Warring States period of the Zhou Dynasty.

The Chinese calendar is lunisolar, so the date of the festival varies from year to year on the Gergorian calendar. In 2017, it occurred on 30 May; in 2018, on 18 June; in 2019, on 7 June; and in 2020, on 25 June.

We celebrate Lunar New Year also called Spring Festival. Families gather for the annual reunion dinner. It is also traditional for every family to thoroughly clean their house, in order to sweep away any ill-fortune and to make way for incoming good luck. Another custom is the decoration of windows and doors with red paper-cuts and couplets. Popular themes among these paper-cuts and couplets include that of good fortune or happiness, wealth, and longevity. Other activities include lighting firecrackers and giving money in red paper envelopes.
