Photosynthesis is the process by which light energy from sunlight and converting it into glucose or sugar. Organisms that employ photosynthesis are autotrophs, that is they harness energy from their surroundings. Mesophyll cells found in the stromata contain chloroplasts in which the process of photosynthesis takes place. During the light reaction stages, chloroplasts absorb energy from the sun and convert it into usable energy with Adenosine Triphosphate and NADPH. During the Carbon fixation Cycle the plants use Carbon monoxide from the atmosphere and combine them with hydrogen atoms from light energy to create glucose. The byproduct of this process is oxygen.
