  • Usually automates repetitive tasks.

E-Mail Viruses
  • Melissa Virus – first e-mail virus
  • Address book in the victim’s e-mail system to distribute the virus.

Encryption Viruses
  • Ransomware
  • Run a program that searches for common types of data files
  • Compresses them using a complex encryption key that renders your files unusable.
