Today, Mr Harry asked us to do revision for Chapter 1: Introduction to Networking.

He gave us 30 minutes to read the chapter and discuss with our friends. Then, we made a group by using Quizlet, and do some kind of quiz in groups. We are given some question, and we should do in groups because the answer is only in one person per question. When we are correct, we proceed to the next question, but if we are wrong, we should redo the question from the beginning. A group win this game when it finish all the questions first.

We change the group 3 times, and one of my group win this quiz. It is really fun, and make me understand more about the topic.

After do quiz in group, Mr. Harry asked us to do the test in Quizlet. And on the first test I got 83%. Because it is really fun, I retake the test until I get 100%.

That's all.

Today Mr Harry explains about Chapter 2.

Firstly, He explains about the history of computer, and told us that Apple is the first company that produce computer. Also, he told us that the reason why people keep buying Apple products even though it is expensive, is the security of Apple's product is very high and cannot be attacked by virus. Microsoft product is usually attacked by virus because many of Microsoft programs use .exe extension meanwhile it is the extension of computer virus. In apple, the extension of .exe program is .dmg. So it means that if there is .exe program in Apple, it is most likely a computer virus and we can delete it directly.

We also re-study about the network standard organization and why we should use standard. Then, we differentiate 3 components, such as hardware, media, and software. We also knew what is 'host'.

Then he explains the difference of LAN, WAN, MAN and Internetworks. He also explains about Intranet and VPN.

Next, we discuss what is the network topology and 5 types of network topology with our group members, and each of our members should draw the topology on the whiteboard. My group should have draw mesh topology, but suddenly Mr Harry told us to do star topology. And we finally can differentiate between those topologies.

And class is dismissed.

Today Mr Harry continue explains about Chapter 2.

First, He explains the difference between Bandwidth and Throughput. Bandwidth is the speed of the network that you buy, and throughput is the actual speed of the network (usually it is less than bandwidth). There are many factors that can make bandwidth become throughput, such as area, cable quality, weather, number of users and shape of the topology.

He also explains about OSI layer model. OSI stands for Open System Interconnection, means any system can use this. OSI has 7 layers, and it starts with layer 7. Mr Harry explains the layers one by one, and make the analogy with pizza delivery, and I become more understand because of it.

Then, he also explains about TCP/IP model. The steps is similar to OSI, but it has less layers than OSI.

In the end of the class, he explains about our second assignment. And told us to download and install an application called Socrative.

That’s all for today.

Mr Harry explained new chapter, Network Security Policy. The purpose of security policy is to inform users, staff & manager, specify mechanisms for security, and provide baseline. It continuously updated as technology and employee requirements change and in the form of document.
There are 2 audience of network security policy, such as internal and external audience.
Network security policy has 3 components, such as governing policy, end-user policy, and technical policy.

For today's lab, we have bring our 3 images and videos, and we make an aura by HP Reveal application.

Mr Harry told us to sit in groups and develop this aura in PC. The steps are quite simple. First, we log in with the same username and password. Then, we just create a new aura, upload the image and upload the video as an overlay. After finished, once we scan the picture, the video we have uploaded will be appear. Mr Harry told us this is an Augmented Reality (AR)

In the first time, I can not scan the picture, and only one of my group mate can scan it. Mr Harry told us there are some factors why we cannot scan it, such as weak connection and we did not log in to the same username and password. I have log in to the same username and password, so I think the weak connection is the factor I cannot scan. So when I disconnect the WiFi and use my own data, I can scan it.

We also try to make 2 more auras on mmnet, and make 1 more aura on our own username. We also try to scan the auras of other groups.

And after that, the class is dismissed.
