Social Media and privacy by Jahns, Kevin A

1. Are you concerned about how much Google, TikTok and Facebook know about you? What are some ways having all this data on so many people could be dangerous? What benefits do we get from having Google, Tik Tok and Facebook knowing so much about us? Is it worth it?

2.Do you think social media companies should do more to stop the spread of hate speech and fake news? Or do you think they should be less strict about taking down things people post? Do you think social media companies should ever ban someone's account? If no, why not? If yes, what should someone have to do to get banned? Is there anyone who got banned from who you think shouldn't have?

3.What do you think should be done to reduce the harm of social media companies? Are there any laws the government should pass? What are some things you can do to avoid the dangers of social media (i.e. lack of privacy, cyberbullying, fake news, etc)

What makes it so dangerous is that the wrong people could get ahold of your information and could possibly harm you. Although there are benefits from having the internet, like communicating with those far away, getting updates, or even just for entertainment. I think that they should be a little less strict with hate speech because there are some cases where people are defending themselves from other people. I feel that cases like those should be investigated. I do think social media companies should ban certain people's accounts. They could be doing things like, constantly bullying people, or showing nudity, or even showing videos of people being harmed just for the fun of it and with no purpose. To reduce the harm of social media you can report any posts you see of someone cyberbullying, nudity, fake news etc. Just to have extra privacy on social media you should make your page private.

it's very dangerous because most of these apps that we have track everything we do and what we post. and whatever you post will be saved. so, like if you post a picture or something but then delete it, it will still be on the internet. that's why it's better to watch what you post. and also, just keep your page on private so you can know who's watching you.

I'm not concerned about it, but I could understand how people would be if their info got into someone else's hands. There are benefits but they aren't too crazy. I don't know if companies can control everyone and what they post cause either way it wouldn't stop. I think there could be some kind of law especially since social media is a big part of society now around the world. What you could do to avoid danger is to stay off the bad part of social media.

Yes i am tikok is ran by china and if we got to war with China they could spy on us and have all our information. With google a lot of people use it so it is going to have a Majer impact if someone hakes into google servers, mainfram and get all the dead people info and the people still using it and have access to their emails too. Facebook i wouldn't know. And it is it worth it all TikTok gives us is a short dipmein rush for a few seconds and that worsens us as people if we on our phones a lot

I think that social media companies should do more to stop the spread of hate. I think that sometimes social media accounts should be banned, if that person is repeatedly being offensive. I think that a lot of small black and brown creators get banned for small offences and/or defending themselves and I don't think that's right.

But there are a couple of ways to limit the data TikTok collects and shares about you. One way is to avoid registering or logging into your TikTok account with third-party social authentications like Facebook, Google, or Twitter login. However, if you're an iPhone user, you can use your Apple ID to register on the app.
