The 3 most important factors that stood out to me from the article would be, location, cost, and admission rate. These are all three very important because I want to be close to Camarillo, and that will be a very big deciding factor for me when I try to choose a long one. I don't want to be in huge debt after I get out of college so I want to go somewhere I know I'll be able to pay off my tuition. Admission rates are important because If I truly don't think I'll get accepted into a school with a low admission rates, I will know to save those $70. (111 words)

These stood out to me because it showed me what I need to do and look for before I apply or look into college I want to go to and see if it is even worth looking into because it might not have what I want and what I need depending on what I am trying to get into.

I believe the factors that most students overlook when looking for a college is curriculum. I think this because many college students drop out of the college they applied to after realizing that the teaching style that they practice won't work out for them or they don't have the classes that interest them. Curriculum is a very important part of choosing a college that may get overlooked by students who choose to go to a school because they have heard it is good. (83)

A factor that I think most students overlook when looking for a college is the overall school size. The school size can impact the way students learn. A lot of schools have over 10,000 students, so getting that 1 on 1 time with the professor is going to be difficult since they have almost 300 students per class. A school with a smaller student body allows you to have a better relationship with your professor when you need assistance. (79 words)

One factor that made me rethink what I am looking for in college is transportation. I say this because I didn't really think about the fact that some colleges don't want cars or have enough parking. And If I have to use public transportation it can get expensive. I feel like whatever college I want to go to I am really going to consider if they allow cars. This was something that I didn't think about before. (77)

A few factors made me rethink my future plans, specifically location, sports participation, and grad rates. Location wise I have accepted the fact I’ll be moving out of state either senior year or after high school. My worry with that is pricing since I would need to earn residence to get somewhat of a discount. Secondly, sports participation is a big factor. I love wrestling dearly, though many schools I have found that offer the major I need don’t have female wrestling. It sucks knowing I may not be able to play the sport in college and I’m trying to find a alt for it. Lastly grad rates, grade rates shop how many people finished the program which reflect the struggle of study and how well you will succeed. (129)

The factor I think will be most important when it's my time to make my final decision is, how good the campus is, the environment, and if im qualified for financial aid, especially because my parent are older than most, and I was discussing with my dad how he was going to retire as soon as I graduate high school and I don't want them to spend so much on me. My least decision for college is, party life because I don't think I would really prioritize partying and it's not super important, and it's not really a lifetime, only a little bit of my life.

The factor I think is most overlooked is the student-faculty ratio, because students often just want to get into the class they want or the class they need to take without considering the number of students in each class. You need to determine how you learn best and whether you want your professor to know you. Another is how big the campus is. You can get lost easily if it's big, and you won't know everyone, but if you're in a smaller school, it's easier to get to class.(89 words)

I feel like when kids are applying for colleges they look at what is most important to them but sometimes they overlook the things that could really make a difference on the application are the graduation rate because they represent how the program is because if the graduation rate is high that means you are more likely to graduate and the teachers are better. This can contribute to your life in college and how fast you get your degree.(79)

When making my final decision, I think the most important factor will be what college has the better program that I’m interested in. I want to become a nurse, and the colleges I apply to will obviously have nursing programs, but the one I go with, depending on where I get in if there’s multiple, I’ll go to the one that has the best program out of the few. I think the least important factor will be the size of classes. I don’t mind the size, as long as the teachers are good, and I learn. (96)

As I get closer to senior years I believe that the factors that will guide me for my college list would be cost, course quality, admission rate, and lastly the courses that the school provides. I will further research this by looking up more schools with the majors I currently plan of taking then also viewing the quality of the course along with the cost and how much student aid is accepted at the school so that I am not in debt after college and also the admission rate because it may be a good school but it is highly possible I may not get accepted into the school.

I believe the factor that will be most important to me when making my final decision is going to be location. I feel like when deciding a school, location is one of the most important aspects and it will probably be my deciding factor when choosing a college to go to. The location will affect how I will be able to live my life for about 4 years and will dictate what I will and won't be able to do, which is why I think it will be my deciding factor when choosing a college. My least important will be Greek life because I haven’t looked too much into it and I don’t really care about it. (117)

I believe the most important factor when it comes to making my final college decision will be financial aid and cost, because it's crucial to know if I will have enough money to cover college expenses. The least important factor during my college decision, I think, will be accreditation because I won't be concerned about graduate school; my focus will be on undergraduate education first, and later on in school, or if I want to go to a graduate school and still need to complete undergraduate studies, then I will worry about accredited institutions. Location is important to me because I don’t want to go too far from home. I still want to be able to live at home and commute. The admission rate stood out to me because it’s important to see the percentage of people who can get into the school. If it's a low percentage, then you have to be very competitive to get in. Studying abroad is a personal preference. I want to be able to travel and do school, so studying abroad is perfect.

Another factor I like was the fact the graduating from college was more important than getting accepted.

I would say that the 3 factors that stuck out to me the most were accreditation, study abroad opportunities, and the cost. In the article, it mentions that students who attend non accredited schools are not eligible for financial aid. I found that interesting because financial aid is a huge part of the application process and not having that could really affect your career. I found studying abroad important because it is something that I wanted to do and only some schools offer that opportunity. Cost is obviously a huge factor in college and probably the number 1 factor to a lot of people.

When it comes down to a specific college, the thing that makes them unique is their departments and majors. If they have a bad reputation and don't have strong programs, the school won't be beneficial. Also, the freshman retention rate is affected because if multiple people drop out of the school and its programs, it has a really bad representation of the whole school. Without positive data, the school could lead you into a false career.

Cost is really important when looking into college because you need to know how youre going to afford it and I dont want to get student loans and end up in debt. Location is also very important to me because I dont want to be too far from home, and I want to be in a nice safe area. Freshmen retention rate is really important because the transfer from highschool to college can be difficult (102)

This is a factor that I will for now on look for in colleges because it can determine how I do in college. If freshmen who are attending don't end up going back their sophomore year, there must be something that leads them not to go back. This will help me stay fully committed to a college once I get accepted. (77 words)

I think the factors students overlook the most when choosing a college is safety statistics, course availability, location, and on campus living. I think safety statistics should be one the best more important things when looking into colleges because that determines your safety and you should check out the amount of security or police there are on campus compared to students. Another one is location which determines whether you could walk, bike, drive to school and how close stores are such as clothing shops or grocery stores. Lastly is on campus living because you should always look into it since you are going to have to live there as a freshman or commute. (113)

One factor that made me rethink what I’m looking for in a college is definitely the location, and what the city around it has going on. Before, I didn’t mind where the college I was going to go would be, but after reading the many factors, I realized that I would rather stay somewhere in California, where there’s lots of activities and things to do. If I went somewhere unfamiliar, I would be uncomfortable and homesick, and have to adjust to a completely new environment on top of already being all alone. (92)

A factor that, after taking notes that is making me rethink the college I am currently looking at is Admission Rates. I love the school, San Diego State. But I never really realized that the acceptance rate is only 34%, which is pretty hard. It is possible, but it would definitely be a stretch, especially considering my GPA and other factors. I think to save my parents' money, I should consider this factor and be realistic. (76 words)

Studying abroad may seem scary but it can be such a wonderful experience you're able to travel and take a break in a sense while not taking a gap year. Curriculum can be crucial when applying to some schools that require different things as well as offer other things that you may not be aware of or want to deal with, it’s better to know this beforehand before committing. Lastly activities, these aren’t a big deal for some but they are big for freshman in college, you can’t and shouldn’t isolate yourself in your dorm. You need to be open and socialize and make new friends!(118)

The most important factor, however, is major selection. I want to attend a school that offers the major I am passionate about so I can succeed academically.

I think that the factors that most people overlook, and me as well is the graduation rate. It is super important because it shows if people liked the college by not transferring out or seeing if they finished going to that school. Graduation rate can show how good the school actually is and maybe why not many people can handle that school. In some cases the graduation rate can be more important than the acceptance rate.

I feel like many dont actually look into the size and believe it doesn't make a difference but it actually does. It not only affects the size of the campus but the student ratio and even the amount of help you get. I know myself personally does not do great when it comes to big schools becuase I work better when i have someone that i can ask for help for if i need it but for some school it can be hard becuase when there is a bigger school it can be harder to find help but for some people it does work becuase it can push you to become independent 135

How classes are taught, help from teachers, extra costs, job or internship chances, and campus life all matter. Where the college is, how big the classes are, and how good the programs are are also important. Thinking about these things can help students pick a college that really works for them. I think it's important to notice all factors because small ones are usually left out but they can be important factors. (87)

A factor that I think students overlook when choosing a college is limiting themselves to applying to schools close to home or the school that they're sure will accept them. By doing this it can prevent them from exploring a wider range of opportunities that can be a better fit for them. Therefore, by students focusing too much on being close and choosing the schools that they know will accept them can be a disadvantage in a way of creating a chance for them to be able to grow and challenge themselves. I say this because I dont want to take random classes that wont benefit me. I need to take classes that are required to graduate and that will actually benefit my major. I dont get how some students spend hundreds of dollars to enroll in classes that dont even care about or dont even attend. I find it stupid. You go for the education and courses they provide and you dont take that to your full advantage. I know that some schools offer classes that fit into every major such as Literature, Engineering, Biology, Architecture. With all of these options available to you some students still make mistakes.
