After losing my parents 3 years ago, my life was tumbling down/tumultuous, chaotic/a mess, crashing onto the ground. Petite and exquisite, Rose has a quiet, ladylike vibe. When you see her, you could see how haunting her kohl-dark double eyelashes are, and the way her cheeks hollowed beneath her cheekbones. How her clothes smell like name-brand fabric softener, not the cheap stuff I use. One thing I know for sure was that her clothes cost more than everything I had in my rickety wardrobe. She is kinder to me than she has to be which took off some of the nervous edge. The positivity radiates off her works as a charm as it attracts people to her, including me. I don't know why and how but whenever I am not feeling up to it, she would always ask my condition for the day, as if she could see right through me.

On one fateful evening, as I marched my way towards my class, I felt a tap on my shoulder simultaneously a mellow voice greeted me from behind. "Hey, what's that?" Rose pointed to a patch with a mixture of purple and blue that I had on my forearm. She pulled me aside and asked me whether her eyes were playing tricks on her or did she really just saw a bruise. I tried to brush it off but deep down I knew what she was talking about. The night before, when my father came home intoxicated, he accidentally stepped on one of my stationaries as I studied in the living room. Consequently, he was furious and that resulted in me getting beat up by him. It was just another regular night for me. From Rose's point of view on the other hand, I'm a walking nightmare.

I tried explaining to her that what I was going through wasn't anything serious and that I've heard of many other worse cases. If anything, I should be grateful that I still have a dad and a house to shelter in. Rose insisted that I should talk to the school counsellors regarding my life condition but the last thing I want to happen is for my dad to assume that I tattled on him when all I wanted to do was to vent. When I refused, Rose offered herself to be my confidante whenever I feel like talking to someone. For that particular interaction alone, I felt more at ease knowing I had someone to share my struggle with. Yes, she might have not stand in my shoe but at least she tried to comprehend my situation.

Every fortnight, I will meet Rose at a local park just to catch up as we don't run into each other's path that much in school. Often times, she would bring me medicines and ointments to treat my bruises. I never asked for any of Rose's act of kindness but being a good samaritan that she is, it comes naturally. Her empathy made me changed my outlook on life and has successfully restored my faith in humanity once again. Maybe God gave me an abusive and an alcoholic father but He also gifted me with a loving friend like Rose. And that's why I love to hang out with Rose; a good companion of mine during my gloomy days.

There are some days in my life where I am embraced strenuously by melancholy and I felt like my already tumultuous life is on the verge of destruction. It's as if my world is crumbling into pieces where the sole thing I do in the span of mere eighteen years of my life being a burden on someone else's life. But one day, suddenly I felt like there is a divine intervention, where without any slightest conscious, there's like a magnetic waves, pulling my petite body to meet with this one person, which is a blessing from God. My life has turned upside down since then and she's the person I would trade all of my dreams to be sticking with her in my life.

She's named after a character in a horror fantasy movie, Bella. The first time our eyes met, I could feel goosebumps all over my body and tingles down back my spine as her dark brown eyes staring straight at mine, penetrating them. Her skin complexion is what most of the women in the earth desired for. Those exquisite diminutive light brown spots sprinkled on her flawless rosy cheeks, showing the after effects of the blazing ball of fire, captured my attention. Her three centimetres tall pointy nose bridge and beautifully-shaped pink lips caught everyone that stumbled upon her mesmerized.

Despite being a 'True Beauty' , she is very down to earth and never allowed herself to be engulfed in a feeling of vanity but rather she practices a lot of humility albeit being at the top of our social hierarchy. Everytime sombre hit me, she's always there beside me and willing to lend her ears. She spews out a few of good and matured advices which helped me a lot especially during my murky days. Sometimes, she also likes to utter quips and crack a joke to perk up my mood and brighten the atmosphere. I don't know how I'll do without her by my side.

During my time in life, I have ups and downs like everyone does and it’s due to receiving poor grades in my school examinations. I always crave my parents’ acknowledgement for my achievements in school but when I don’t achieve such grades, my parents would tell me that I didn’t study ‘hard enough' or I was ‘slacking’ off when in reality, I studied day and night for the examination. Despite having all these predicaments, I manage to pull through thanks to this special someone whom I was blessed with and became my strong motivation to work harder and never give up. Her name is Aleeya.

Aleeya has small almond shaped eyes with long lashes. She has a small yet rounded face which makes her face quite cute and innocent. Sometimes, I can’t help but be mesmerized by her innocent face. She’s a petite and frail tanned girl but she has high hopes for her future and pushes herself to be at her full potential. She is incredibly intelligent and willingly helps me when I’m in need of help.

I first met her when I was studying abroad in Saudi Arabia in this school and she strolled into the math class that I was in with her delicate frame and backpack nearly bigger than her frame. The math teacher placed her next to me and during the entire class, she didn’t utter a single word nor sound. At first, I thought she would be the shy and more introverted type but boy, was I wrong. She’s such an unpredictable soul and I never knew that she was very extroverted until I got closer with her. Despite being a little ball of energy, she’s an astonishing listener and amazing at giving advice when I’m downhearted. She always brightens up my day and consistently reassures me and tells me that I’m doing great and that I shouldn’t give up. She’s always optimistic whenever one of us is feeling sorrowful and tries to lighten up the mood a bit.
