He was also a writer for many different newspapers so writing faster would help him.

This would be his background on his phone because Sholes had found out about John Pratt's Prototype, which is a British prototype for a mechanical writing tool. This jump started his vision for a typing machine. The summer of 1867 he took telegraph keys combined with a type bar and make some wooden parts to came up with the very first working type machine with his associates Samuel W. Soule, Carlos Glidden. The prototype had one key, it was the letter W. It typed the letter on a sheet of carbon paper onto plate glass.
By September of that year, Sholes, Samuel W. Soule (machinist) and inventor Carlos Glidden, made a working model for the typewriter. The typewriter could type the entire alphabet, numbers 2 to 9, and different punctuation marks. In 1868, they received patent for the "Type-Writer."
The typewriter still had some way to go and because of alignment of the letters they used newspaper type cases as their model, since Sholes worked with newspaper cases for many years. Sholes and Densmore rearranged the keys into a system that they loosely based on letter-pairing that were used frequently. That was developed by Densmore's brother Amos. They partners knew the arrangement was important so they included it in Sholes' 1878 patent, and the QWERTY system was made. It is still the style of key board we use today.

Christopher Sholes would have this app on his phone because . He was the editor of ‘Wisconsin Enquirer’, ‘Milwaukee News’ and ‘Milwaukee Sentinel’. Sholes was apart if the Democratic Party in the Wisconsin State Senate from 1848-1849.

On his phone Christopher Sholes would have pictures with his brothers because at eighteen he moved to Green Bay Wisconsin and started working for his older brothers, Henry and Charles who were publishers of the ‘Wisconsin Democrat’. This started his career in working with the newspaper.

Another picture on his phone would be him with Samuel W. Soule who was a machinist and Carlos Glidden who was inventor. He would have a picture with them because he asked Soule and Glidden to help with the creation of the typewriter. Soule helped put together the mechanics for the typewriter to make sure the parts work and move together easily and didn't break when the typewriter was in use. Glidden was an inventor who was asked to help so that Sholes and him could come up with ideas to make the prototype better and figure out how to make the keys look and to think how they would connect with the letters. They invented the typewriter together in a machine shop in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Lastly he would have a pictures of the typewriter being made step-by-step. He would have these because he would want to keep track of the progress of the prototype. He could also go back to these pictures to see what parts he could take out or move around without having to take the whole machine apart, so when they start to make another model of the typewriter they would be able to switch up the parts and put the in different places because they would no it didn't work when they placed that certain part of the machine.

"It's a thousand pages, give or take a few." his invention allowed people to put their creativity on paper at a faster rate, it allowed people to write down notes or letters to there loved ones. Mark Twain was also able to write a novel with the typewrite which goes back to the point that you were able to write as many pages as you want. "I could make it longer if you like the style." The typewriter didn't limit people to how much they wrote.

So newspaper was a big part of his life. "Living a life of constant change
Every day means the turn of a page" Was something that Sholes could really relate to because he was the inventor of the QWERTY keyboard, made the first commercially successful typewriter. He was also a publisher, politician and philosopher, and he also served the state legislature and was inducted as Collector of Customs of the port of Milwaukee by President Abraham Lincoln.

To be quite honesty I haven't been feeling the best lately. I have had the most terrible cough I have ever experienced for the past few months.
Soule: Oh I'm so sorry to here that! Hope everything turns out well for you!
Sholes: Thank you for your well wishes, I hope they become true.
Sholes: So I have a vision I have come up with after learning about Scientific American: John Pratt's Prototype. Would you like to here it?
Soule: Go ahead I would love to hear what you have in mind!
Sholes: I have a vision for the first mechanical writing machine! It would have a piano hammer type contraption that would hit letter onto a sheet of paper once you hit the letter the rod connects to.
Soule: The idea sounds fascinating! I would love to help if you would like.
Sholes: Of course, that's why I have told you about it.
Soule: This is going to change the world I tell you! But we will need a lot of time and maybe a few more people.
Sholes: I agree, I'm thinking of asking inventor Carlos Glidden in helping to get this started as soon as possible!
Soule: Sounds great, I'll talk to you in the morning then! Good night.
Sholes: Ok, good night.

Sholes would have this app on his phone because pintrest is an app that allows people to find different ways to make things or refurbish them and much more. So when Sholes needed to fix up the issues with the the inking system or the alignment of the letters, or the key arrangement, because it tended to jam. He could have gone to pintrest to find items that would make his invention better and more effective.

The first typewriters were put onto the market in 1874 but the work didn't end there because Sholes, Soule, and Glidden worked together for many years adding to the typewriter and making it better by fixing the arrangement of the keys which Sholes did, or changing the ink to make the letters look cleaner.
