Title: Asterix and the Black Gold
Author: Alberto Aleandro Uderzo. He was a French comic book artist and scriptwriter. He is best known as the co-creator and illustrator of the Asterix series in collaboration with Rene Goscinny. He also drew other comics such as Oumpah - pah, again with Goscinny. Uderzo retired in September 2011.

Introduction: The book describes Asterix and Obelix’s voyage to the Middle East in search of rock oil.

Summary: Asterix and Obelix have to travel to the Middle East for Rock Oil. Rock Oil is an essential ingredient for preparing the magic potion the Romans fear and the Gauls get their strength from.

Characters:
• Asterix - The hero of the story. Also a Gaulish warrior
• Obelix - Asterix’s inseparable friend and companion on his journeys . A menhir delivery man by trade. He also has a pet dog named Dogmatix.
• Vitalstatistix - The chieftain of the Gaulish village.
• Getafix - A gaulish druid who brews the magic potion that Romans fear.
• Ekonomikrisis - A Phoenician merchant, a friend of the Gauls.
• Dubbelosix - A Roman druidical spy who fails the gauls plans.
• Julius Caesar - Dictator of Rome who sends Dubbelosix to infiltrate the Gauls village.
• The Pirates - They buy Ekonomikrisis’s stock in order to save their lives and their ship being ruined
• M. Devius Surreptitius - Chief of Julius Caesar's secret service, M.I.VI.
• Samson Alias - Ekonomikrisis’s supplier of Rock Oil. His real name is Rosenblumenthalovitch. He sends Saul Ben Ephishul with the Gauls to guide them to Babylon.
• Saul Ben Ephishul - Asterix and Obelix’s guide to Babylon to find Rock Oil.
• Joshua Ben Zedrin - He leads Asterix and Obelix to his friend also known as Samson Alias.
• Sumerians, Akkadians, Hittites, Assyrians and Medes - Different types of tribes who are at war with each other. Asterix and Obelix are mistaken for their enemies on their way to Babylon.

Plot:
Phoenician merchant Ekonomikrisis has forgotten Getafix’s order for Rock Oil - an essential ingredient for the magic potion. Asterix and Obelix voyage to the Middle East in search of rock oil. Julius Caesar sends his roman druidical spy, Dubbelosix, to fail the Gauls plan. When Asterix and Obelix finally get some Rock Oil and load it in their ship and are on their way to their village, Dubbelosix throws all the Rock Oil in the sea. Meanwhile, Getafix conducts his experiments and finds an alternative for the Rock Oil in the magic potion - Beetroot Juice.

Evaluation and Conclusion:
This is completely a fictional book as it contains elements such as magic potion and a small group of villagers holding against the power of Rome, which has never happened. The story inspires us not to lose hope and continuously go on looking for alternatives to succeed in life. This is a story which clearly depicts victory of good over evil.

Name: Adrija Lahon
Subject: English Literature
Group: 1 (VI-A)

Book: Around the World in 80 Days
Author: Jules Verne

Who is Jules Verne?

Jules Verne is a prolific French author whose writings laid much of the foundation of modern science fiction. However, Verne's father, intending that Jules follow in his footsteps as an attorney, sent him to Paris to study law. Jules Verne, a 19th-century French author, is famed for such revolutionary science fiction novels as "Around the World in Eighty Days" and "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea."

Introduction:

Around the World in Eighty Days, arguably Verne's most famous novel isn't sci-fi. There's no space, no aliens, nothing futuristic to be found. Instead, when Verne published the book in 1873, he let loose one of the most famous literary explorers of all time Phileas Fogg. Ridiculously punctual, and well-mannered, Fogg accepts a bet from his gentlemen at the reform club, who say there's no way he can travel around the world in eighty days. So, Phileas Fogg sets off to make this true. In Around the World, though, what we see instead of the future is an impressive array of technology. As Fogg travels, he makes use of all kinds of technology, stopping just short of using eighty different modes of transportation to complete his trip.

Who are these Characters?:

Phileas Fogg: He is an Englishman who lives in No.7 Saville Row, London. He is a recluse and a member of the Reform Club.

Passepartout: He is Phileas Fogg's French manservant. He provides comic relief in the narrative.

Andrew Stuart: He is a member of the Reform Club and an acquaintance of Phileas Fogg. He is the one who challenges Phileas Fogg to undertake the journey around the world in 80 days.

Mr. Fix: He is a detective from Scotland Yard who believes Phileas Fogg is the robber of the Bank of England, and follows him throughout Phileas Fogg's journey around the world.

Princess Aouda: She is the widow of raja who got rescued from Sati by Mr. Fogg and Passepartout. She eventually marries Phileas Fogg.

Summary:

Phileas Fogg's punctual and practical. Being a lonely bachelor in an old mansion in London doesn't seem to bother him, though. With the peace and quiet he is able to think about the more important things in life, like having his shaving water brought to him at the exact same temperature each day, or calculating precisely how many steps there are between his gentleman's club and his front door. Phileas Fogg has two passions: playing whist and being right. So when a debate between his members at the club arises about how long it would take to travel around the world, he states that of course it could be accomplished in eighty days. His friends politely tell him that it's impossible. But Phileas sets down a bet and calls them out. He wagers 20,000 pounds (his entire fortune) that he can do it. And because in London they have nothing better to do, they all agree to the bet.

Plot

A suspicious looking person has robbed the Bank of England. Oddly enough, he sort of looks like Phileas Fogg and he has, that reserved, subdued quality which totally identifies him as a gentleman. The robber is looking to quickly leave the country. Detective Fix, a police officer from Scotland Yard is now on the case to arrest Phileas Fogg for burglary, but he has to catch him first. Phileas and his newly hired servant, Passepartout, leave that night with Detective Fix slyly following them. The adventure continues as Passepartout makes constant goof-ups, they stop to help an Indian princess in distress, and Fogg duels with an American colonel, all the while barely escaping Detective Fix. Phileas Fogg stops at nothing to make it back home in time. He's down to use everything from ships, trains, an elephant, or a sailing sled to get them to the right place at the right time. His calm, logical mind never freaks out or fusses over the many delays, inconveniences, and dangerous modes of travel.

Conclusion:

Fix is able to arrest Fogg at the worst possible moment, and now it's way too late to collect on the bet. Instead of jumping off a bridge, Phileas agrees to get hitched to his Indian Princess friend so maybe this isn't the end of the world as he had previously thought. But Passepartout realizes something: Phileas Fogg, the most punctual man in the world, did not account for the time gained by traveling eastward. So they still have time to win a bet. Phileas Fogg storms his club and astonishes his members by making the journey around the world, just like he said. But what he's most happy about is finding someone to love and who loves him back.

Evaluation:

The story is simple and fun, and shines with Verne's recognizable style scientific, almost mathematic, with the highest regards for the main characters and full of real world knowledge.

~The End~

Author- Jeff Kinney
What is the story all about

The story begins with Greg recounting the reason his parents wanted to go on vacation: they were worried about the stress of celebrating Christmas and thought it would be more fun to take their three sons to Isla de Corales, the tropical resort where they spent their honeymoon. Greg is unhappy about the suggestion but everyone else is enthusiastic.

The vacation gets off to a bad start when the family gets stuck in traffic on their way to the airport making them worry that they will miss their flight. After arriving later than they intended the Heffleys struggle to get through security and make it to their departure gate on time but, when they do arrive, their flight is delayed by several hours.

Once on the airplane, Greg becomes very worried about the possibility of a plane crash and asks the flight attendant lots of questions about the safety of the plane. The family takes it in turns to sit in First Class after Greg’s dad gets an upgrade but Greg misses his turn.

When they arrive at their destination Greg discovers that one of the activities at the resort is swimming with dolphins, which is something he has always wanted to do. He starts to think that the vacation might not be as bad as he was expecting. Greg’s parents’ want to stay in the same suite they stayed in for their honeymoon but they are told that they cannot because the resort has changed and is now split into two sides: the Mild Side, for families, and the Wild Side, which is for adults only.

In their suite, the Heffleys realize that they have collected the wrong suitcase from the airport, meaning that they will have to wear the same clothes for the whole vacation. Greg’s mom warns everyone not to drink the local water but Greg’s dad ignores her and gets very sick. The next day, Greg is scared by a spider in the bathroom and orders room service so that someone will come to help him, but the waiter is also scared of spiders. As a team, Greg and the waiter manage to flush the spider down the toilet.

Greg and his mom try to sign up for some activities and Greg is disappointed to discover that swimming with dolphins is already fully booked. The family tries to eat in the golf clubhouse but they are told that they cannot come in because there is a formal dress code, which the Heffleys cannot follow because they lost their suitcase.

The family goes on a cruise and Greg initially refuses to go in the water because he is afraid of being eaten by sharks or stung by jellyfish but his mom insists that he joins the family in the water where he discovers that he really enjoys snorkeling. Greg panics and swallows a lot of water and his family takes him back to the resort to be checked out by a doctor. Back at the resort, Greg’s younger brother Manny brings a poisonous box jellyfish into the pool area leading to an evacuation and the pool being drained.

Tired of everything going wrong and wanting to have a nice meal, the family decides to wear the clothes from the suitcase they mistakenly picked up at the airport so that they can eat in the golf clubhouse. They are spotted by the family who own the suitcase and are thrown out of the resort for theft.

The next day they all sneak back onto the resort in order to make sure they have one nice day during their vacation. He finds himself surrounded by fins and is worried that he is about to be eaten by sharks but it turns out that he is swimming with dolphins.

Greg breaks down the barrier separating the Mild Side and the Wild Side leading to lots of families rushing through to use the Wild Side’s much better facilities. Matilda's teacher, Miss Honey , is a wonderful, sweet woman, and she immediately recognizes Matilda's intelligence and seeks to move her into the highest form, where she can maximize her potential. Unfortunately, though, Crunchem Hall is run by a terrible woman named Miss Trunchbull. She is massive and muscular, having been a former Olympic athlete for Britain. The peak of Miss Trunchbull's horrible antics is reached when she calls a school-wide assembly, and makes a boy named Bruce Bogtrotter at an entire giant chocolate cake on his own in front of everyone as punishment for stealing a slice of hers. Miss Trunchbull blames Matilda for placing the newt there, even though she did not do it, and Matilda gets so angry that a peculiar sensation of power comes over her and she manages to knock the water glass over with her mind, pouring the newt onto Miss Trunchbull's bosom.

Matilda is awed and frightened by her newfound power, and when she demonstrates it for Miss Honey, the teacher invites her back to her cottage to talk. Matilda is mystified when she sees Miss Honey's cottage, a tiny, sparse place hardly fit for living. Miss Honey reveals her life story to Matilda: her parents died when she was young, leaving her in the care of her cruel aunt, who has bullied her and forced her to work ever since. This terrible aunt takes nearly every cent of Miss Honey's salary, so she cannot afford to live anywhere but this tiny shack. At last, Miss Honey reveals who this aunt actually is: Miss Trunchbull.

Matilda comes up with a plan to get back at Miss Trunchbull and help Miss Honey. She hones her power until she can make objects move in the air at her will, and then the following week when Miss Trunchbull comes in to teach their class, she has the chalk move on its own and write an ominous message to Miss Trunchbull. Miss Trunchbull believes that the message has come from Magnus , Miss Honey's deceased father. Panicked, she disappears, moving out of his house and leaving Crunchem Hall.

When Magnus's will mysteriously appears, it is revealed that his house belonged to Miss Honey all along, as do his life savings. She moves in immediately, and Matilda is a frequent visitor. Under the new head teacher, Matilda is moved up to the highest form, where she finds that because her mind is challenged with hard work, she has lost the ability of telekinesis. She discusses this with Miss Honey but decides she does not mind that it is gone.

When she returns home that day she sees her parents and brother in a frenzy, packing up to move to Spain because her father has finally been caught for being involved with criminals who sell stolen cars. Miss Honey offers to adopt Matilda so she can stay and live with her, and Matilda's parents, who never truly cared about her, agree to the plan.
By Akshitaa Jaitley

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Summary
Author- Roahl Dahl

Our story starts out with an introduction of the main characters: Charlie Bucket's family. Charlie, his parents, and his four grandparents all live together in a small house. They're poor, hungry, cold, and pretty much in dire straits. The one thing that brightens Charlie's life is the chocolate factory, owned by 🤬 Wonka, that's right in the neighborhood. That, and the one chocolate bar a year he gets on his birthday.Grandpa Joe seems to know a lot about Wonka's factory and he tells Charlie a bunch of stories: about a chocolate palace Mr. Wonka built, and about how he had to close his factory down because of spies stealing his recipes. During one of these stories, Charlie's dad comes in with the news that Mr. Wonka will be opening up his factory to five lucky children who can find Golden Tickets in Wonka chocolate bars. Contest! On his birthday, Charlie's whole family hopes that his chocolate bar will contain a Golden ticket, and guess what? It doesn't. (Did we trick you?) Grandpa Joe even gives him some saved-up money to buy one more. Still nothing. One day, while Charlie is walking home from school, hungry and cold, he finds some money on the ground and uses it to buy chocolate. And sure enough, without even expecting it, he finds his golden ticket.Charlie and his Grandpa Joe go to the factory on the day of the tour and boy is it marvelous. There's a room made entirely of edible things (with a chocolate river), and little people called Oompa-Loompas who run the factory. And that's only the beginning! One by one, the other four children on the tour cause some major trouble and are carried away. Augustus Gloop falls into the chocolate river while trying to drink from it, Violet Beauregarde eats some magic gum that turns her into a blueberry, Veruca Salt tries to steal a worker squirrel and ends up down a garbage chute, and Mike Teavee is shrunken down when he tries to send himself through television.Charlie is the only child who doesn't cause trouble, and 🤬 Wonka tells him he won. Wait, what did he win? The whole stinkin' factory. Mr. Wonka wants someone to take over for him when he gets old and he chooses Charlie. That's right, the whole factory is his! They shoot through the roof on the glass elevator, go get Charlie's family, and bring them back to the factory, where they'll never go hungry again.
By Akshitaa Jaitley

Author- Roahl Dahl
Protagonist

Mr. Fox is the protagonist in the story. He is a very cocky character because he thinks he will never be caught by Boggis, Bunce, and Bean. Mr. Fox uses his sense of smell to outsmart the three antagonists. Even though stealing is morally wrong, Mr. Fox is providing for his family and has committed to helping them survive.

Antagonist

Boggis is one of the antagonists in the story. He is a chicken farmer and he is very plump. Boggis eats his own chickens that are smothered in dumplings every day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. He is a disgusting slob who has a servant bring food to him. Boggis along with his two brothers detests Mr. Fox.

Bunce is another antagonist. He is a duck and goose farmer with thousands of them at his disposal. Bunce looks like a pot-bellied dwarf, because he is extremely short. He eats doughnuts and goose livers and has a very bad temper. Bunce just like Boggis, wants to catch Mr. Fox.

Bean is the final antagonist in the story. He is an apple and turkey farmer. Unlike his two brothers, Bean does not eat food; he always drinks gallons of strong cider which he makes from the apples in his orchard. Bean is as thin as a bean pole and is the smartest out of all the farmers. Bean, along with Boggis and Bunce are obsessed with catching Mr. Fox and making him pay for his theft.

Setting

Fantastic Mr. Fox takes place in a couple of different locations. We are first introduced to all three farmers’ farms, a chicken farm for Boggis, a goose farm for Bunce, and an apple and turkey farm for Bean. As the story progresses we find the setting changes. After the three farmers shoot Mr. Fox’s tail off, Mr. Fox is forced to leave him home and dig an underground tunnel. Most of the story takes place underground with Mr. Fox trying to escape the vile farmers. Mr. Fox ends up revisiting each farm later on in the story.

Conflict

In the fantasy Fantastic Mr. Fox, there is a person vs. person conflict. The three farmers, Boggis, Bunce, and Bean chase the foxes through an underground tunnel in mechanical shovels all because Mr. Fox repeatedly stole food from the three nasty farmers. Mr. Fox and his family of foxes are trapped underground with no way out and are forced to come up with a plan.

Climax

The climax happens when M. Fox is in Bean’s cider cellar. He is in the cellar with the small foxes and the small fox gets drunk off of the cider. Rat tries to get rid of them but he is unsuccessful and pretty soon Mabel (Beans maid), comes downstairs. The highest point of suspense comes when Mabel is moving the jugs of cider and Mr. Fox is almost discovered but slips away through the hole undetected with some cider for the feast.

Resolution

The resolution of the novel is Mr. Fox plans a feast by stealing food and drinks from the three farmers. Mr. Fox and his companions plan on staying underground forever. They now have tunnels leading to all of the houses so that leaves them with an unlimited amount of food. The farmers, Boggis, Bunce, and Bean remain around the hole waiting for Mr. Fox to show himself. They plan on staying there as long as it takes. Mr. Fox changed at the end of the novel, and the farmers stayed the same.

Theme

There are a couple themes to this story. The first theme is that when you do bad things, bad things end up happening to you. Mr. Fox continued to steal from the farmers and he got his tail shot off and was hunted throughout the book. The second theme is that when you work together you can accomplish many things. When Mr. Fox teamed up with Badger and the other animals he was able to plan a feast and save his friends.

Plot summary

Mr. Fox was a clever animal who would go into Boggis, Bunce, and Bean’s farms and steal food to feed his family on a daily basis. He took it home to feed his wife and three small foxes. But soon, problems arose. The food was starting to run short every day and his family was getting hungry. The three farmers were growing more and more determined to get rid of Mr. Fox because they knew he was a thief.

Soon Boggis, Bunce, and Bean decided they would take action. They planned a number of things to trap and kill Mr. Fox. The farmers tried day and night to trap Mr. Fox but he was always one step ahead of them, outsmarting them at every turn. After the farmers nearly caught him by shooting off his tail, they came up with their best plan yet, they would start digging into his home. They used mechanical shovels to start digging through the ground and right through Mr. Fox’s house. Mr. Fox and his family had no way out and now they were trapped underground.

It took a while but soon Mr. Fox thought of a brilliant plan. He realized that they could dig faster than the farmers can dig so with his family, they started digging for their lives. They soon faced more problems like hunger because they were trapped, they had no way of getting food and now all of the other animals were in similar situations because their homes were lost as well with nothing to eat. Pretty soon after digging and digging Mr. Fox and his friends came across their paradise. They had stumbled across where Boggis, Bunce, and Bean keep all of their stash of delicious food. They had found the key to survival and now vowed to stay underground forever because they had all they needed, good food and good friends and family. The three farmers were still undeterred and would not leave their spot surrounding the hole.
By Akshitaa Jaitley

Author- Jeff Kinney
Greg Heffley as his attempt to earn money for Christmas gifts gets him in trouble at school just as a massive blizzard sets in. When the novel begins, Thanksgiving has just passed, and Greg is panicked about being as good as he can so that Santa Claus will bring him many gifts. Greg spends much of his free time playing the game Net Critterz online. Greg needs cash to buy his virtual pet Chihuahua various items, but his mom says she will not give him any money. Further, she reveals that Greg will have to earn his own money to buy gifts for others this year. Greg asks for money to be left behind the church in an envelope request on the church’s Giving Tree, where people help one another out anonymously.

Greg immediately sets to work trying to come up with ways to earn cash. His attempts at shoveling snow end in failure as he tries to use water to blast away the snow –which in turn causes a sheet of ice to build up instead. Greg and Rowley decide to have a Holiday Bazaar like the school does, and will sell concession snacks, offer games, and sell gifts. Greg and Rowley discover it is too expensive to advertise in the local paper, and the local paper won’t cover their Bazaar as they deem it to not be newsworthy. Greg and Rowley decide to then create their own paper to advertise their Bazaar, but Vice Principal Roy will not let them hand it out at school. Greg and Rowley decide to advertise for their Bazaar by creating signs and taping them to the school wall. When rain begins falling, it causes the signs to run – and green ink to stain the bricks. Greg and Rowley then flee when a teacher nearly catches them.

The newspaper carries a story about the vandalism. At school, Roy addresses the student body, demanding that the guilty parties, or anyone with any information, come forward. Rowley submits an anonymous note saying he and Greg are responsible for the vandalism. Greg refuses to identify Rowley as the co-conspirator, meaning that Greg must now clean the bricks alone. It takes him several hours, but he manages to do it. At home, Greg learns the police have paid his house a visit, but with no one home, have merely left a note. Greg is panicked and angered that Roy has brought in the police.

That night, a terrible blizzard sets in which rages all weekend and prevents the police from returning. Greg’s dad takes a hotel room near work since he cannot make it home. That leaves Greg, his mother, Rodrick, and Manny at home alone. Greg quickly gets bored, as there are only so many things that can be done. When Manny breaks their mom’s glasses, Greg is the one who must help his mom care for Manny. When the basement floods as a result of all the snow, Rodrick, whose bedroom is in the basement, must share Greg’s bedroom upstairs which annoys Greg even more. As Christmas Eve rolls around, Greg’s dad is able to return.

Greg is sent to drop off a toy donation at the Toy Drive bin outside the police station. Greg does this in a ski mask so the police do not identify him. He then swings by the church to see if anyone has left cash for him, shoveling the entire parking lot to make sure, but there is nothing there. The newspaper carries a story the next morning of an anonymous do-gooder who shoveled the school parking lot, enabling the soup kitchen to open. Greg considers publishing a second edition of his own newspaper to name himself as the do-gooder.
By Akshitaa Jaitley

Book Review on The prince and the pauper

This book is pretty interesting because it has a very different concept, different than any of the books I have read.

What I really liked is that the story in the book is taking place a long time ago in England and through the illustrations, I got to know the kind of clothes people used to wear back then and also what is going on in the story. Other interesting fact is that the dialogues of the characters are written in the way the people in England used to speak.

The author of this book is also trying to say that whatever you are now, a rich person or a beggar, you will always miss the place where you were born and raised, for e.g. when the pauper and the prince switched places, they both started feeling homesick after a few days. The pauper was not comfortable with how he had to follow so many unwanted practices and the prince had to live a poor life and bear the ruthless beatings by his father.

And the ending was also very good because the reader will surely think first that the book is going to have a bad ending but it all becomes good at last.

So, overall I recommend everyone to read this book because it’s very interesting.

Book review - This hotel is haunted
This book "This hotel is Haunted (Geronimo Stilton)"
is a very hilarious book, written by Elizabeth Dami.
It starts when Hercule Poitrait and Geronimo Stilton were called to investigate mysterious events at the famous Grand Hotel in new mouse city. There was a ghost haunting the hotel and scaring guests!
It was wearing clanking armour and carrying a ball and chain.
Would Hercule and Geronimo be able to solve the mystery of the haunted hotel? This is the suspense in the book.
The thing I particularly liked about the book is the picturisation. The picturisation is very good. But the thing I found it could be more adventurous. But this book is very funny and good for reading. I will give it 8 out of 10 points.
By Tanishq Kumar

Since they have less money the father wrote a story for a movie. Luckily somebody liked what the father wrote and asked him if he would like to write more stories. And of course the father agreed and after they got enough money, they went to London and settled there.
I enjoyed reading the book because it is adventurous, exciting and I don't want to stop reading it.
Reviewed by
Pemsomi Zimik

She teaches a lesson to her evil school Principal and helps her nice teacher Miss Honey to get her house back.

SUMMARY OF THE BOOK

Matilda was a very smart and intelligent girl but her parent did not like her at all. Matilda’s mother went to play bingo every afternoon, her brother went to school and her father went to work. When Matilda’s parents were gone she used to go to the public library as she was very fond of reading. When she had read all the children’ books she started reading books for grown-ups.

Matilda started going to school. Her teacher Miss Honey was a very kind and smart teacher. Miss Honey was amazed to see that such a small girl could read and do very hard sums in her mind. Miss Honey decided to tell the principal how smart Matilda was. The Principal was Miss Trunchbull, a very rude lady, who often treated children very badly and put them in a chokey i.e. a thin and small closet with nails on the door and broken glass pieces and the children could barely fit in it. The Principal thought that Miss Honey could not handle Matilda.

Miss Honey told the children that every week on Thursday Miss Trunchbull would take the class. Lavender, Matilda’s best friend, was in-charge of the water jug, so Lavender thought of taking revenge. She put a newt in Miss Trunchbull’s water jug. Miss Trunchbull saw the newt in her water cup and she blamed Matilda for that. Matilda tried to explain but Miss Trunchbull did not listen. Matilda got so angry that with the power of her eyes, she moved the cup so that the water and the newt fell on Miss Trunchbull’s clothes.

Matilda told Miss Honey about everything that she could do with her powers. Miss Honey was amazed and invited Matilda over to her house for a cup of tea. Poor Miss Honey was living alone in a very small cottage which did not even have a proper bed.

After one week of practising her powers, Matilda took revenge on Miss Trunchbull for everything she did and Miss Honey got her house and money back. When Matilda came home her parents were packing in a hurry and told her that they were leaving the country as the police were after them. Matilda knew the cause that her Dad cheated people by selling old cars as new. Matilda did not want to leave. She told her parents that she wanted to stay with Miss Honey and her parents agreed. Matilda and Miss Honey lived happily

EVALUATION OF THE BOOK:

I really liked the character of Miss Honey because she was a very kind and hardworking lady. I cannot imagine how she stayed alone in a very small cottage without any comforts. I also liked the part when Matilda tipped over the glass on to Miss Trunchbull with the power of her eyes. I loved Matilda because she played pranks to teach her father a lesson who did not care for her. I liked the ending of the book that the rude Principal was defeated. I also liked that

the language of the book was not very difficult to understand.

I disliked the part where Miss Honey came to Matilda’s house to tell her parents how smart she was and Matilda’s Mom said rude words to her, “ I chose looks and you chose books.” I also disliked how cruel Miss Trunchbull was because she put the children in the ‘chokey’. She picked them with her hands and threw them out of the class or playground fence. It was not nice of the author to make a totally bad character with no good qualities.

RECOMMENDATION FOR THE AUDIENCE:

I loved this book.

Name of the book: Matilda
Author: Roald Dhal
My best book I read in summer holidays was Matilda. A story of a little girl named Matilda Wormwood. Her parents Mr and Mrs Wormwood, her brother Michael. Her father did second hand car selling, they never cared what Matilda did. They always thought she was a stupid, ignorant and lair, but they were wrong actually they where wrong she had amazing mind. She started reading as a smart man could read a book at the age of 4. She went to school at the age of five and half, her teacher Miss Honey was so sweet, but her headmistress Miss Trunchbull was so strict, rude and hated children.
The part I liked was wen Miss Honey told her story to Matilda in her lovely cottage.
The part I disliked was when Miss Trunchbull forced Bruce Bogtrotter to eat the chocolate cake.
I really liked this book, this is one of my favorite book. I recommend this to all mu friends, teachers, relatives etc.
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
