I created a rubric for basic science experiments with QuickRubric tool. It can be developed by achievements of lesson.
It's a framework for all ages that i teach but i make it detailed when i need it. It requires a strong observation skills but when students write lab reports, it makes easier.
Also i used an online tool for creating it.

I usually evaluate with rubrics. As an example, a rubric I use to assess a whole IBSE activity. In other cases, I use rubrics to only assess a specific part of the IBSE activity (i.e. making hypothesis)

Our Administration has begun to implement the evaluation through rubrics in all subjects. It is more qualitative than quantitative. I think it provides more information about student progress, but it details much less the level of each student.
In a very summarized way, it is about making tables composed of different criteria and 4 levels by criterion: novel, apprentice, advanced and expert.

I think McLeares rubric is a very useful tool, and really well thought. I have a rubric I use when assessing scientific investigations with my Y9 (3 ESO) and Y10 (4ESO) students, but I must admit it still needs a bit of working on.
This would be the rubric I use to assess a lab, for example, the one I attach to investigate the friction coefficient between a slope ( also in padlet) and the student's clothes.

I generally adaptate the most general format of an IBSE rubric to the specific matter/object/target of the laboratory activity, so I cannot suggest a kind of rubric.

I don't teach science but I do teach students who are going to be science teachers and I have taught mathematics. My experience in using rubrics has mostly with mathematics projects and lesson plan projects. I usually create the rubric to be specific to the content and elements of the project. One element that is always a part of my rubric is the student explanation - whether is it clear and correct or whether it is vague or incomplete. I also usually have a category that considers grammar and spelling. If it were an in class writing I would not consider the grammar and spelling to be as important as I do when they are preparing the writing outside of class.

I do not know any other way to evaluate scientific texts. However, I agree with the Italian professor when he says that it is complex to carry out this type of evaluation and that it should not be restricted to the way the text is written or the way ideas are transmitted.
I think that this type of activity applies to older students, to pre-university education and that it is important to evaluate both the skills for the 21st century and parameters associated with the process of doing science and with scientific literacy, as advocated by the teacher on video.

Honestly I don´t know other specific rubrics, but I have used rubrics to assess project presentations at school. I would not use them to assess written work as the age group I teach 12-14 don´t usually write scientific essays but it could be a task I could introduce. The MCLeares is aimed specifically at university level science essays and would need to be adapted for younger ages. I find rubrics very useful and efficient to use when marking presentations and lab reports. If they are available to students before hand it gives the students a clear idea of the expectations they must meet. It would help them to analyse their own work more and correct their mistakes, encouraging reflection.

It is not IBSE strict activity, but I would like to share this rubric I used to evaluate a spacecraft construction and presentation. The pupils had access to the rubric before the presentation date and they had time to practise.

This is a rubric I have used. I set the students a task to research our solar system and build a model. It works really well. I hand it back after marking so the student can see where they can improve. The disadvantages are that most of the work is carried out at home so I dont know how much they have actually done themselves!!

I think that is very important to use a rubric and I usually do it, changeing it every year based on the objectives of the learning and the age of students. I attended many courses for CLIL teaching, where many kinds of rubrics were proposed. I like McLeares Rubrics! So I want to use it in the next future.

A very useful rubric and one which i would use in the future.
I find rubrics very useful and they are being used now in Irish science assessment. We have to assess 2 classroom based activities with 2 different rubrics and this is done countrywide with all science teachers using the same rubric. This started last year for the first time so we are only getting used to it now. Up to this we only used summative assessment based on a marking scheme for facts correct or incorrect.

Here is an example I found online and have adapted for my group and the extra things I wanted students to include in their project.

Students have to build a 3D model of an atom according to the Bohr Model and research their element and provide an information card.

If the rubrics are shared before the project/task it makes student practice the skill of managing themselves.

This video are interesting. I knew the IBSE methods but I do not use all formulas. I studied many years ago and these methods were not popular with us, but my teachers tried to teach us practical thinking. now that I have had IBSE stationary training, I know the basics and now I am convinced that it is worth working with this method, it is inscribed in the IB philosophy that we have at school. This helps students develop, be a creative, thinking person
