This is something that I think I can take action on & bring into my classroom. So many awesome things seem to be built into the process of students building projects around topics of their choosing!

I was reminded what it feels like to sit in uncomfortable desks, listen passively to a teacher talk their information to me, and feel a low-grade frustration with the clock that either cut short good sessions or prolonged blase ones. Don't get me wrong, the collaboration time was awesome and some of the sessions were very thought-provoking, but the traditional school day set-up (except our kids don't get to choose where they are going most of the day) helped me understand the physical and mental issues I see in my kids everyday. Let them pick what they are going to research/study. If the topic is Rome. Let one kid do their project on Roman medicine if they're thinking about the medical field in the future. Then let one do it on Roman engineering if they are into construction.
