2. I started my internship at a construction company in Penang called MBAH Enterprise. I was assigned to Kak Ayu, my supervisor who is a senior quantity surveyor (QS) at the company. This is one of the busiest month for the company because there are many new projects listed so construction companies participate in the bidding process for the projects also known as tender. I was assigned to fill up the tender documents. I was given the company profile, based om the profile, I fill up the details such as owner name, company work exp etc.

3. Things that I learned; tender documents have to be filled with black ball pen, correction tape of any kind is not allowed or else the document may be rejected, company name has to be perfectly stamp as in every single letter has to be visible for the document to be admissible. Construction projects are divided into 7 classes (G1-G7) based on the value of the project. For example, G7 are projects worth more than
RM10 million. The higher the class, the thicker the document that has to be filled, more information needed.

4. I was very excited to start my internship, first because it is my first working experience and I can finally make my own money. Of course, I did feel a little nervous on my first day. I thought; can I fit in, what will my colleague feel about me, will I do some mistake that may trouble others. Thankfully everyone was so nice.

5. I have no background in this kind of work, so I had difficulty understanding the terms while filling the document such as ‘tenderer’, ‘BQ’ and other words. I put my fear asideand asked my sv and my colleague. By the time I got to my 3rd document, I was well verse with what I was doing.

This is the first week of elective posting and I had gone through multiple baking videos to figure out some useful baking techniques. Besides, I managed to find a best recipe for baking custard tarts and created multiple toppings for my tarts.

There are some points to remember after trying baking for a few times. Firstly, ensure that the oven’s temperature is hot enough to bake tart crust is an important thing to remember. Make sure it has reached the temperature suggested in the recipe before putting the dough in, or it won’t be properly baked. Refrain from opening the oven door too much during the baking, as this will rapidly cool down the inside of oven, affecting the baking. Secondly, Freeze before baking. Pop the tarts in the freezer for a good 10 minutes while preheating the oven.

Baking is so far a physical and mental therapy for me. It is an art that is all about balancing act between time, temperature and ingredients.

Difficulties that I encountered during first few trials are the crunchiness of tart crust, temperature of the oven as well as the sweetness of custard sauce. Luckily these problems are solved after watching multiple of baking videos.

Interesting and Challenging are 2 words which I can describe for my elective posting so far.

To start off my elective posting, I already updated my business modal canvas in the revised elective posting application form in order to smoothen the business process. I decided on the company name and opened up a few social media platforms appropriate to promote my business which are telegram channel (in pic 1) and Instagram. For the time being, I am more focus on doing promotion through telegram channel. Other than that, I also surveyed some suppliers providing products and merchandise to be sold later on by reading and studying reviews from their existing customers. Next, packaging material already being bought from Shopee aps after surveying the cheapest price offered. As you can see in pic 2, I recycled some bubble wraps and cardboard to save up some cost. I also did some research on the potential buyers for the merchandise so that I can make better marketing strategy. 

Points to remember from week 1. It is very important to make research and study regarding the business community that we are involved in. This includes to know potential buyers, the market price of the products so that we don’t overprice or underprice them, other competitors selling the same products and trusted suppliers. There are a lot of scams going around nowadays and we don’t want to be their victims. 

For my feelings and thoughts, I always liked business therefore I enjoy doing this as my elective posting. Business can be stressful sometimes especially when there are no profits gained. I hope I can stay positive through out this journey and gain a lot of priceless knowledge that can be useful in the future.

I think one of the difficulties that I encountered was to find the best supplier for my project. This is because what I am going to sell is quite pricey considering these products are authentic and from overseas, so I need to consider the cost including overseas shipping and others. Therefore, I need to find the supplier that can quote the best price which is affordable for me and my future customers. In order to overcome this difficulty, I did a lot of research especially by reading the reviews and checking the selling price.

2 words to describe my progress are challenging and worthy.

For next week, I would like to design some posters to promote my business and to start posting on Instagram. 2. In this week, I have:
-created my business logo by myself, using my skills on arabic calligraphy. (as shown in picture)
-getting supplies for my junk-journaling.
-practicing my skills on calligraphy, painting and junk-journaling. At the same time, I am able to create some art sample that I can use for promoting my business later on. 

3. Point to remember from week 1 is “A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step". So, I have to get started somewhere. Besides, there’s a lot to discover once you get out of your comfort zone. 

4. I feel nervous and a bit clueless as I don’t know what should I start with. Fortunately, I can ask a friend of mine who is also doing a business regarding postage and delivery. Not just that, I also do some research on art business by watching videos on Youtube & reading on ‘how-to-art-business’ from some trusted websites. On the other hand, I am taking this opportunity to enhance my skills in art, as it is my hobby and passion since I was a child. 

5. My biggest obstacle is of course, myself. As I was saying, doing business is actually not my cup of tea. I am an introverted person who’s rather doing all the ‘behind the scenes’ work. Therefore, I’ve been feeling anxious on how it will turn out and sometimes I do have self-doubt on my own capabilities in running a business. I overcome these feelings by affirming myself that it is okay to feel this way. It may be a little bit hard at getting started but hopefully, it will become easier as it goes. I always tell myself to take one step at a time & hold on to a saying; slowly but surely.

  • I will go survey another courier service to compare the postage price rates. Only then I will decide on the best one and stick with it for the rest of my business project. 
  • I also would like to proceed on promoting my art business. I will consider pay some money to ‘boost’ my post on Instagram so that I can reach more account to promote my business. 
  • Other than that, I also planning on creating posters to post them on my instagram account, to let people know on the business that I will run on.

I chose marketing new business as my Elective Posting. For the first week of my Elective Posting, we’ve got our ssm approved few weeks after application. We’ve also printed out the labels and instruction stickers for the packaging. The labels have been designed by the owner and I was in charge of ordering the labels. I do gained something from ordering the labels as i have surveyed a few printing shops to place order to look for the most affortable price. Not only that, i’ve also learned that communication skill is very crucial when ordering as i got additional discount after some discussions which i think my way of talking is the reason.

In addition, i’ve also opened an instagram account for the business called ‘TRS Chai Masala’. Since we just got the models, I haven’t started to post anything as it is part of my week 2 plan. I have listed my week 2 plans below for reference.

A point to remember from week 1 is a detailed research and guidance from someone who has experience in business is much needed to get you started. Since my brother is involved in business, so he guided me very well whenever i have doubts. Besides that, i’ve also learned that before we buy or order anything, a short survey is very important to make sure to get best quality and affortable product.

My plan for week 2:
- promote my instagram page
- start following people that i know
- pack the masala tea powder into the packets(not my part)
- put labelling on the packages

I chose to research and pursue into business as my elective posting, because of my passion and interest towards the business sector. To add in, this will also help to aid me financially through the income that will be earned throughout the business. I also feel that business, management, and marketing are going to be useful fundamentals for every individual in the upcoming living. 

2. As for week 1, I've learned how to design on a planform called ''Canva'' through YouTube and explored the app myself. This has helped me gain knowledge about the design sector, for example, I have managed to create 2 different T-shirt designs and add 5 color variants. Creating the T-shirt design by myself was a huge challenge because I had so many colors, shapes, and fonts to choose from for my T-shirt. It was also challenging, because I had the idea in my head, but was unsure of how to present it. 

3.Throughout this business journey, one main point that I would not forget is proper research and planning. During the start of this business, I had no idea on what, to begin with, so I just started with no proper research and a solid plan. This has then led to time wastage and lack of productivity. This one point has taught me a lesson, and I will ensure to remember this from now on.

 4. I am very happy that I chose this as my elective as it gives me a lot of experience in the business sector and an opurtunity to learn as well. At the same time I also feel a bit hectic as there was a lot to cover within a short period of time. But this journey is a very new experience for me.

5. One of the difficulties that I faced is time management as there was a lot for me to learn and execute at the same time in a short period. I came up with a schedule to manage my daily routine and to have my own self research at the same time. 
Using canva itself was a difficult task for me as there was a lot to learn with it and it was hard to come up with a new design from scratch. What i did was to allocate more time for learning canva and worked together with my partner to go through many youtube videos.

1) I was introduced by my friend about Amway Company. She tried to convince me to join her team as a business owner of Amway under TQG system. I make a discussion regarding to this offer with my parents, and they gave their permission for me to proceed to the next step.

On 29th May 2022, I have decided to meet with my mentor, Mr. Clarence face-to-face at Amway HQ in Petaling Jaya. For my first impression, he is a very nice and open-minded Chinese guy with high motivated businessman. He always think positive in every kind of situation. On the first day of our meeting, he introduced me all of the Amway products and benefits for every products during Show The Plan (STP) session. I realized that Amway company is very concern about the quality and customer's satisfaction. After satisfied with all the presentation and explanation by Mr. Clarence, I have decided to register myself as Amway Business Owner (ABO) and now, I have my own license to make a promotion and to register my clients as ABO or  Amway Privileged Customer (APC) if they are interested to make some purchase. I will get 10% commission from their purchased for any products.

From my registration as ABO, I received RM80 voucher, Amway Products catalogue and also an introduction book for new ABO guidance.

2) Points to remember from week 1, it is very important to have a long-term plan for our future. This includes our plan in financial for our future benefit. Find an opportunity in business is one of the ways to increase our income either active or passive income. Next, we have to be more careful in joining any business team because there are many scammers out there. Then, we have to step out from our comfort zone so that we able to notice our abilities and talents. We will never grow if we always stuck in our comfort zone. 

3) For my feelings and thoughts, I always curious about business, however, I have lack of support and guidance. I worried and afraid to join any business team because I heard from news, there are so many scammers out there that actively scamming and take advantages from other people. However, I think now I am on the right track by joining Amway Company as a business owner. There are no pyramid system in this business. I feel really happy and excited to meet my first customer and promoting them Amway products. However, I realized that it is not easy. I have to work hard to get more income from commissions. 

4) I think one of the difficulties that I encountered was to make a decision to register as ABO. This is because I do not have any experience in business and I am not so good to communicate about products to my clients. I worried I am not able to explain in detail to my clients about the benefit of any product. In order to overcome this difficulty, I did a lot of research about Amway company and also about their products. I asked my family members and also my friends about the company. Some of them already ABO and some of them know very well about the Amway company. I really sure that this is the best opportunity for me to try something that can make me grow and move forward.

6) For next week, I plan to approach my friend to introduced them about Amway products and try to convince them about the benefits of Amway products. I also plan to approach my friend with high-motivated and high determination in business to join my team as ABO. I hope there are a lot of people know about benefits of Amway products in future. 2. Since this is the first week of the elective posting, I will start with something simple and theoretical. I get myself few recipes from my mother, my aunty and Youtube, realising the ingredients needed are actually the same. However, the quantity of ingredient for the respective cakes are different. After summing up all the ingredients and baking techniques, I still requested minimal amount of assistance from my mother. 
 
3. Baking cake can be fun but not for the first-timer. I could have master this skill earlier if I helped out my mother in cake making during festive season. Very important points to be remembered are following the amount of ingredients precisely, giving adequate time to bake the cake, never ever open the oven when it is not done because the cake may collapse, and last but not least, listen to your mother's advices. 
 
4. I was excited when I initially make baking as my elective posting project. Baking was stigmatised as a very feminine thing to be done by a man. However, this is an awfully ridiculous stereotype. Including baking, cooking food should never be gendered. I was thinking that baking can be cool and I can earn some pocket money from selling the cakes I made. Baking can be one of my favourite hobbies in future. 

5. There are a lot of difficulties and concerns I encountered throughout the first week. Initially, I planned to make a cake with extremely low calories, but the things wont work out because most of the ingredients content high fats and sodium. Therefore, I substitute them with better and healthier ingredients. For example, I changed the margarine into unsalted butter. Applying medical knowledge in baking can be fun, unsalted butter has lower amount of sodium and trans fat. Apart from that, I was planning to cut down the unhealthy ingredients used and increase the healthy ingredients used. Apparently, it did not work out. (please refer to the above picture) So I ended up using my mother's recipe as the product is the healthiest and better looking in appearance. 

6. Two words to describe the elective posting progress so far are HECTIC and FUN.
 
7. My plan for Week 2 will be setting up an online page on Social media for better promotion of the product. On the weekend, I plan to start collecting orders from customer through google form and call in. I have pondering about whether offering free delivery or not since the orders are opened to community in my hometown. This will be revealed in the next padlet.

2) I've reactivated my Instagram business account named Craying_fix, which I have deactivated last year due to studies. I have also promoted my week 1 product, creampuffs, through both Instagram and Facebook account. I have got a lot of responses from strangers. My week one sale is 8 boxes of creampuffs. It was out of my expectation. I managed to complete all orders on time and delivered to my customers. 

3) Points to remember from week one is to manage my time properly so that I can be more productive in life.

4) I felt happy to see all my customers were satisfied with my creampuffs. I hope I can come out with more varieties of dessert to meet my customers' demand.

5) It was hard for me to handle so many orders at the same time. I have to reply a lot of queries sent by my customers and also to promote my product onto social media. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to manage them orderly. Hopefully, I can come out with a solution after this.
