1. 1st Activity

   -Equitable classrooms are all up to how equipped the teacher is.

   - It is important to incorporate students' cultural backgrounds to cultivate a safe and comfortable environment.

- Implement more visual aids with everyday instruction.

- Implement more group work to have students work with others to learn from others as well.

1. 2nd activity

   - Incorporating diverse role models, such as relevant scientists and mathematicians into her curriculum.

   -Schools can host cultural celebrations to aim to promote a cultural pride and awareness among the students, staff, and families within the community.

- Implement school-wide announcements that educate those on different cultural holidays or celebrations.

-Implement cultural awareness days where students get to open their eyes to the cultures around them that they might not see everyday.

1. One of the things I would implement is using her strategies of building relationships with my students, getting to know them and their backgrounds, lives, cultures and other important information about their lives outside of school to be able to teach them better

2. I would implement her assessment strategies; dy diversifying the assessment type it helps student to utilize their strengths at certain times and challenge them to grow at other times. If students were only given one assessment type the whole year it would cater to a specific group of students and lessen the courage of others.

• Incoporating students culture can help students connect with each other and motivate them to learn more about different cultures.

• Important to make sure teachers aren’t biased or one sided when it comes to cultures/ backgrounds. Having an open mind and supportive attitude toward all students provides the opportunity for growth at a school

Implements

• Cultural awareness day (similar to science fair where students dress up for different cultures, bring food, and learn information about cultures) this allows for more students and teachers to be made aware of different cultures

• Plays or stage productions where the entire school is given the chance to deeper understand different backgrounds and cultures

1. Ms. Rodriguez's Classroom takeaways:

   • Ms. Rodriguez was very culturally aware of her students and she was able to cater her lessons and assignments to her students needs, interests, and cultures.

   • Ms. Rodriguez connects her lessons to real-world experiences and things they will use in real life so her students will stay more engaged and relate math to their lives.

   • Sunrise Middle School has lots of inclusive curriculum and makes it a priority that students understand other cultures and backgrounds within their history and other subjects materials.

   • Sunrise Middle Schools makes sure to include families and communities within their programs and policies so that the community can partner with teachers, students, and administrators to create a community that works together to academically and socially help their students.

3. What we would implement:

   • We would implement teaching and connecting lessons to students personal lives.

   • We would make small groups in the classroom based on students strengths and weaknesses so that they can collaborate and help each other succeed.

1. It is important to make all students feel included and a part of the school community.

2. Schools should encourage collaboration and problem solving in groups in order to make students feel more productive and heard within their school environment.

Things to implement

1. Have frequent discussions with the class, asking what they think should be implemented into the classroom, what they like about your class, and what they don't like.

2. Intentionally place ELL students with strong English students in order to foster growth and friendships within the classroom. Encourage small group or partner discussions within all groups.
