September 1960: Ho Chi Minh was replaced by Le Duan as head of North Vietnam's ruling communist party due to health reasons. 
May 1961: John F. Kennedy sends helicopters and 400 Green Berets to South Vietnam. This is significant because this shows the US is doing everything they can to not help communism spread.
November 1963: President Kennedy is assassinated and Lyndon Johnson 
July 1975: North and South Vietnam are unified as the Socialist Republic of Vietnam under communist rule. This is significant because it shows that that after 20 years after all this war North Vietnam won the war

The reason for this is because it created some more tension between the United States and the Soviet Union. The reason they had more tension is because they were basically fighting each other but not literally. Another reason this was apart of the Cold War is because now there is another country that is communist and would probably be on the Soviets Unions side the whole time. This connects to the Ukraine and Russia invasion today. The reason I say this is because Russia who is communist is invading Ukraine and trying to take them over.
