Symbolism
Dream farm-express the friendship between George and Lennie
Rabbits-symbolize the hopelessness
Crook's room- symbolizes a prison cell, the discrimination, the fear and isolation
Setting from beginning and end- the river resembles the peace and safeness
Flat character
Curley, he is ignorant, cruel, unfair, aggressive. No one liked him.
Imagery
The descriptive setting creates imagery. The screen is described in depth.
"On one side of the river the golden foothill slopes curve up to the strong and rocky Gabilan Mountains, but on the valley side the water is lined with trees— willows fresh and green with every spring, carrying in their lower leaf junctures the debris of the winter’s flooding; and sycamores with mottled, white, recumbent limbs and branches that arch over the pool."

George-"Guys like us, that work on ranches, are the loneliest guys in the world. They got no family. They don't belong no place. They come to a ranch an' work up a stake and then they go inta town and blow their stake, and the first thing you know they're poundin' their tail on some other ranch. They ain't got nothing to look ahead to."
This states the loneliness and difficulties of being out there just him and Lennie seeking for land.
Lennie-"Lennie looked sadly up at him. "They was so little," he said apologetically. "I’d pet ‘em, and pretty soon they bit my fingers and I pinched their heads a little and then they was dead—because they was so little. I wish’t we’d get the rabbits pretty soon, George. They ain’t so little."
This is showing that Lennie doesn't understand the strength he has and he is truly innocent he must does not understand.
Candy- "I ought to of shot that dog myself, George. I shouldn't ought to of let no stranger shoot my dog."
This states that he loved his dog and rather have willingly took his dogs life than to let a stranger knowing it is the right thing to do in that situation.
