It is also in charge of our organ muscles to help us move things like food in our intestines and cardiac muscle to keep our heart beating.

The nervous system works with the muscular system by directing the muscular system how to operate. Muscles contract when the nervous system sends the signal to contract. The nervous system sends the order, and the muscular system carries it out. The nervous system also regulates the smooth muscles. It tells how fast the smooth muscles should move substances. The nervous system even controls cardiac muscle contraction rates. The muscular system helps out the nervous system. There are receptors in the muscular system that tell the nervous system where parts of the body are; this is how you know where your hand is when you are not looking at it.

What if the Nervous System Stopped Working?

If the nervous system stopped working, it would not send signals to the muscular system. The muscles would all be relaxed and none of them would be contracted. Our hearts, our stomach, and the muscles that control our legs would just stop working. No one is telling them what to do so they won't do anything. We would probably die because if our heart stops beating, no oxygen is circulating. Also, we would be sprawled out on the ground when we die since no muscles are contracted to keep us standing up.
