I eat lunch with my students on a regular basis. I purchase lunch for all of the students in my homeroom of their choice. I attend their sporting events or activities outside of school. For example, plays, outside sports teams, cheer competitions, etc. but no birthday parties unless there was a relationship prior to class (I've taught my niece and nephew before).
