We will:

Have high expectations for ourselves and our students.

Have purpose in our classrooms, follow grade level expectations, and utilize appropriate classroom activities that promote higher level thinking.

Model and implement PBS consistently by modeling safe, respectful, and responsible choices.

Communicate and collaborate with parents and staff regarding issues affecting our students.

Align curriculum with productive vertical teams.

Use data to make decisions and emphasize best practices in our school.

Be life-long learners and model that for our students.

Use instructional technology and appropriate assessment methods to plan and implement effective lessons promoting higher level thinking.

Continue to try new things as a staff, even if we make mistakes. We are educational pioneers.

Tying into Kristin's comments: how about "Promote/encourage a collaborative culture that allows for curricular alignment, cross-curricular planning, etc."-- Is that more in line with our PLC? -Heather Noe

The phrase "educational pioneers" seems cliched and trite. We're not pioneers in practice because we use what works rather than invent new stuff and use our kids as guinea pigs for it. -- Justine Rogers

I like the thought of "life -long learners," but I think the words should be linked more to culture (collaborative culture, etc).

Add something about holding students to a higher standard? If we want to put out a superior product (well behaved and educated students), we must hold students to those standards which we have set.

This list makes me tired just reading it...it seems too broad and too long. Perhaps that is the point of a vision statement, to stretch us beyond the norm, I don't know...but my "vision" is blurry when reading this. I would rather have a more pointed, focused vision that drills down what we believe are the essential values. It seems better to do fewer, and more significant, things well than many things only average.

Rachelle: I think we can definitely combined some of these. We have expectation several times and promoting higher level thinking.

I like what we have here but do sense that they could be shortened. How to you cover what you need to cover with out being too broad.

I too think this list is too long. I believe we need to link our vision together with our mission so they flow and work together (not listed as bullets)

Being more concise would bring some clarity to what the vision really is.
