The capital of Chile is Santiago. Chile's flag is very similar to the Texas flag. It has a red stripe all the way across the bottom half. The top have is split into two sections. A third of the top half is blue with a white star in it. The rest of the top half is white. The blue square in the flag represents the sky. The white stripe represents the snow on the Andes Mountains. The red stripe symbolizes the blood that was spilled whilst fighting for their freedom from Spain in 1818.

Chile is in South America and is surrounded by Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, and the Pacific Ocean. A major landform that runs through Chile is the Andes Mountains. A few popular landmarks in Chile are the Churches of Chiloe and the Torres del Paine National Park. A few major bodies of water are the Penas Bay and the Drake Passage. The interactions between earthquakes and the people in the area causes devastation. It causes many homes and other buildings to be destroyed. It can also cause death.

The government in Chile is very similar to ours. Theirs is called the Representative Democratic Republic. The current president of Chile is Michelle Bachelet, who was voted in by the people. Some of the rights of the citizens are the right to worship freely, the right to equal treatment under the law, and the right to live in a clean environment. Some of their responsibilities as citizens of Chile are, to obey the law, register for the military, and respect Chile and its emblems.

Food:
A popular food there is a Completo, which is a hot dog. Hot dogs are the second most popular food in the U.S. However, theirs is topped with lots of toppings and is much larger. Ours is normally topped with only a few things. The also have something called a Churasco which is similar to our hamburger. They put a lot of extra things like tomato and not much meat. Ours is filled with meat.

Language:
English is the typical language of the U.S. and Spanish is the typical language of Chile. A similarity is that a lot of people speak Spanish in the U.S. Another similarity is that many words sound similar in both languages. Also there are many differences as well. Also a lot of our language is full of short words, but a lot of their language is very long words. The way they say certain letters is different as well.
