Based on all the sources, the teenagers life did change during the Japanese occupation. In terms of food, the teenagers were able to eat better food than during the Japanese occupation. They were able to eat rice, yam and potatoes to keep them full but during the Japanese Occupation, they could only eat a little bit of rice. They had medication to use before the Japanese occupation unlike during the japanese Occupation. In terms of entertainment, the teenagers had more variety of movies and films from the western culture to watch before the Japanese came. However, after the Japanese took over, all the films revolved around the Japanese propaganda and the teenagers had no interest in the films that were being shown. In terms of school life, before the Japanese Occupation, the students had no stress in studying as they could easily understand what their teachers were talking about. However, during the Japanese Occupation, the students either had to stop learning in school or to learn subjects in Japanese. The richer families could afford having tuition for their children. This caused a lot of problems for both the students and their teachers. There was also a change during Japanese Occupation in terms of jobs and the working condition. Before Japanese Occupation, people worked very hard but they only earn a small amount of money. The life was tough as the jobs they have were all very tiring and also they earn little money from these hard works. During Japanese Occupation, the people in Singapore lived in a more comfortable and adequate quality of life. The people living in Singapore enjoyed working due to the privileges of getting free rice and more food. They had a stable life as they had enough food and money to survive. Therefore the Japanese Occupation changed the lives of teenagers significantly in the above aspects.
