Where you get a small glimpse into students life with out prying, but it is a way to connect that is voluntary. A good thing can be simple, we had pizza last night. "Hey today seems kind of off, is everything okay?" and giving the students the opportunity to go talk to someone if they feel it is needed or even wanted. But my MT and I always go around and do quick check ins with students. I make sure and include at least 5-10 minutes out of our day to check in with everybody and see what they are up to.
